Solid Gold Seameal Powder

edited February 2009 in Products & DIY
Well - I had talked about Ninja's hair on his legs getting thin and brittle(you can view the original discussion here: Thin,Brittle, Dull fur on legs?)

I had bloodwork done to check his thyroid - but all came back normal. So it got me thinking...what can I do to help his coat.

Well...I put them on Solid Gold Seameal Powder about 5 months ago.

I just wanted to show the before and after results. I am pretty shocked! I didn't change anything else in their diet...so it has to be this supplement!

Solid Gold Seameal Powder has my stamp of approval :)

As you can see - the brittleness is gone, his fur is nice and shiny and looks more even...the thin patches are gone!

    Wow, Ninja looks great!

Did you notice a change in Portia too?

I will have to look into this suppliment, Miso has been a little brittle, but it could be the cold New England weather!

Portia's fur has always been realy soft and shiny. So I can't really tell with her, since she has a single short coat.

I don't think Ninja ever really developed a full double coat. His neck is thick of fur, but from the neck down - it seems like its a single coat. So his fur from the neck down is still thin, but the brittle hairs are gone and his coat seems to have evened out to where there are no thin patches of fur.

awww we need more Ninja spam. I have to admit that I keep forgetting to add the seameal to the pups' diet. I've had the bottle for months now - it's probably no longer any good :(

    Ninja looks great!

Ninja does look great. You can really tell a difference, even in the pictures!

And I agree with Pam, we need more Ninja spam! And Portia spam. :)

Pam - the expiration dates are pretty long. The bottle I just got a month ago expires in 07/2011 - the expiration date is towards the bottom of the container right under the label

Jen and I have a huge tub of this stuff, our pups get it at every meal... we swear by it for their coats.

I had never seen before and after pics of it's results tho - pretty amazing! Ninja looks great! Thanx!

    impressive!

raw green tripe is also like a miracle food for their skin and coat. Between that, Seameal and fish oils, our shibas coats are pretty awesome.

This looks like something I really need to add to Jazz's food - how is it added & how much do you give?
  • edited November -1
lj - we take a small, small pinch of it 3x's a week and mix it with yogurt and a fish oil capsule and they just eat it. There are measurements on the tub when you buy it.

LJ - You mix it with 1/4" warm water at the bottom of the bowl - I give Ninja 1/4 tsp (for dogs under 25 lbs.)

    Here are the specific directions:

Mix 1/4" warm water in the bottom of the food bowl. Stir to disperse evently. Feed the following amounts twice a day mixed with the morning and evening feedings.

    Body Weight Amount
Upt to 10 lbs. 1/8 tsp twice a day
Up to 25 lbs. 1/4 tsp twice a day
Up to 50 lbs. 1/2 tsp twice a day
Up to 75 lbs. 3/4 tsp twice a day
Up to 100 lbs. 1 tsp twice a day

The only issue would be - if your dog sometimes doesn't eat their breakfast or dinner - it pretty much goes to waste - since the kibble will soak up the water. But then again - when you add any type of supplement - the remaining food goes to waste.

I'll be taking photos tonight so that I can show those positive results in a few months as well. I'm very excited about the chance that Jazz's fur may regrow over her front paws. There is some fur there, which was not there when I got her - I can definitely see the improvement since we added that. I'll post those in a bit.
