why do people do that??

part of the reason im writing this, is kinda to vent. (sorry :/)
most ppl arnd me who arent really dog lovers cant seem to really relate to me.

so i have this acquaintance that lives back in the states and will be coming out here to Japan in summer cos her husband is also in the military.
she was looking at my shiba pics on FB and has been saying how cute/adorable the breed it.
so she wrote me 1 day and asked me some brief qnz abt the breed, i tried to tell her as much as i cld, i mean im not expert, so i told her i can provide her with more info from some reading sources, she kindly declined.

so 1 wk later she posted pics of her new shiba pup on FB, i was very happy for her. so for the 1st month, she kept posting pics up and there was a lot of talk abt her pup.
but after 1 mth, it seemed like her shiba disappeared into thin air, so i decided to ask her how her pup was doing.
she just told me "he doing ok, hes been itching/shedding (4mth old pup)"
she said the vet examine her pup to find out wat the probs were, and concluded it was prolly cos of the diet, the vet told her she needed to change to something else, and the dog prolly has a very sensitive stomach
she was feeding Iams, she came to me to ask for some advice on food, so i gave her some links to look up diff dog food and decide which was best for her dog and convenient to get. so now the pup is on canidae.

as mentioned, they are moving out here in summer and i told her that here on base we only got the supermarket brands, out in town u MAYBE able to find canidae at double the price, so i gave her some websites she cld order from.

she told me she doesnt want to pay so much for dog food in japan, neither does she want to pay for shipping, so she will jsut go back to Iams. I can understand not every1 can afford higher grade dog food.
but this is also the same girl who brags abt her chanel/gucci/LV, 600threadcount bedsheets, egyptian bathroom towels, europe vacation

SO I MEAN COME ON, i understand different ppl have different priorities, but if you dog is obviously not doing good on that food, & you can obviously afford bettter food, why deprive ur dog of the food it deserves?!

sorry for such a "lengthy vent", i just figured every1 here wld be able to relate better.

WOOOSAH!!!! LOL Breath! I bet that felt good getting all that out. I totally agree with you though. When we were thinking about getting a pup we had to seriously crunch some numbers and make sure there would be NO issues with any monthly expense OR the unexpected ones. Honey IS a big part of this family....and she would ALWAYS come before ANY "extras".

I waited to get another dog because I wanted a shiba and I only understood 1/4 of the issues that could come about by getting this breed. The food thing was unexpected, but to get a better food - it's really not that much more. Granted where you live has a lot to do with that and I'm fortunate to have choices relatively close by.

Maybe give her an electronic subscription to the Whole Dog Journal?

Oh that poor thing, and Iams of all brands...(I don't know if it's true, but I heard a story about Iams supporting lab testing on beagles to determine allergies. So many Beagles laying on the floor with chunks cut out of their legs.)

Maybe she can sneak over a bag of canidae, or see if one crappy dog food is not as bad as the rest, since she's too cheap to pay extra. She knows that Iams is the problem, at least try something else with the hopes that there will be a better outcome.

Just have her turn her dog into a rescue before she moves.

Sad to think that the dog might be better off via Brandon's suggestion. :o ~

I used to have that mindset... I didn't want to spend a lot of money on food so I settled with a mid quality food for my cats and dogs.

But after the first bag of dog food, I realized I spend $30 whenever I go out to eat for one night-- this food will last Sasuke for a whole month. I used that tactic on my parents, now they're switching Ninja's food to Evo.
