Scary situation.

So I got a call about a couple of dogs chasing people at a nearby park. I get there and see a small white yorkie, a rather large rotty, and a smaller size pitbull. I have dispatch call animal control and I go closer to the dogs...bad idea. The big nasty rotty start to charge and I draw out my gun and started to take the slack back on the trigger.
All of a sudden the rotty comes to a screetching halt and runs away. That was seriously the closest I have come to shooting some thing while on duty. I later find out that the owners are dead beats and I end up taking the animals away due to agressive animal laws.
None of the animals were licensed so the owners will now have to pay some fines.

That was my excitment for the day other then the crazy racist german guy threatening people on a city bus.

That's not a very comfortable place to be in, for sure. I'm it was just a fright and nothing more serious came from it.
    What happened to the dogs?

Well that wouldn't be a fun situation to be in at all. It's so unfortunate that you get put in that type of situation due to the idiocy of others.

Whoa. Definitely a scary situation! Glad it worked out ok. My ex is a cop. I know it wasn't allowed in our town, but he carried a can of mace for just that situation! He's a dog lover too and didn't relish the idea of having to shoot a dog.

Wow, I'm glad you didn't have to fire...as a police cadet in the explorer program (I was 15), I was riding with a cop who had to shoot a horse who had been hit by a car...it was the most god awful thing, he felt just terrible..despite the fact that it had to be done...I hope you retire without a shot being fired, that's my hope for all police officers!

I would hate to shoot a dog but I would rather put it down than to be bit. The dogs are in animal control custody and I'm sure that rotty is going to be put down.
