Anyone have a good Vet that has experience dealing with Shiba's around the North Aurora, IL area?

I love my vet, Dr JB Bruederle ... but we are in 60605 which may be too far. There are several Shiba’s in my neighborhood, South Loop/Printer’s Row so they are well versed in dealing with any particularities. http://www.burnhamparkvet.com/

Funny note, last month when we took Ichiro for his boosters Dr B said “he’s not a typical shiba, huh?” I asked why he thought not and replied “well, he hasn’t tried to bite me yet.” Regardless, Dr B is a good natured guy and I enjoy the time we’ve spent with him in his office and outside. (He lives in the neighborhood and we've run into him in local restaurants.)

Something gave Shiba's a bad wrap, my vet said almost the same thing!

"Most shiba's I encounter have a touch of mean"

I just gave him a funny look!

    (That was my old vet:P)

I hear ya! My guess is most shibas may not care for the personal space invasion vets do. ;)

Our trainer also taught us "gotcha" - which we practiced with others in the class and at home. It was a game where both strangers and my husband and I would come up and "gotcha" to 'Chiro, it got him a little used to the odd touching out of the blue.

Also, since our vet is so close we do our best to take Ichiro in every few weeks for a cookie and visit. Now he sorta LOVES the vet. Cookies, dog friends to meet, nice long walk... what's not to love!?

Our vet said the same thing about Keiko. He was shocked that she gave him kisses... even told us a story of a family that was 'scared' of their Shiba. I personally think the family just got a pet store puppy not knowing what to expect.
