Two FYI

edited March 2009 in General
Two quick things to let you in on.

First there may be someone by the name of Chris or Chen looking to sell Akita Puppies. If so they are from a mother son accidental breeding. This was part of that major fallout from the LA-Branch meeting I was telling you about.

In light of all the BS on the breeding front. Ben and I are talking about buying and importing a male and having ben breed him. More to come on that front.

    Hey! Thanx for the update.

That's cool that you may co-own an import, I hope you guys have much success - god knows North America needs it!

I'll keep an eye out for Chris/Chen, hopefully they will not try to sell pups on the forum. That would anger me.

    Good luck!

    Thanx!

Yeah tell me about it. I was given a 1 year LA-Branch Akiho membership as a gift. Since I work our labor contracts at work the next thing I know I am helping write a code of ethics for their breeders. Cheez! I guess this breeder mess is really going to be nasty.

As far as the male goes it is either going to be Ben and Myself or Ben and Jim Sjorberg (http://www.hyozan-akitas.com/) and the owner of Kaedas daddy. Either way there should be some better breeding come this fall. We might ask Emily over in France if she has and import for Europe.

Thanks again for the great forum.

I would stay away from Emilie's dogs. Kahuna is a mess, fearful, sick all the time, his ears didn't stand up, etc. We actually just neutered him - i have not told Emilie that yet. I'm VERY disappointed. Our vet thinks he may have a thyroid problem too - his blood is being tested now.

Basically, if you want to know who not to import dogs from, I can help you there as Jen and I have 4 Akita (all imports from top lines) and only one is breeding quality - and I don't love her "type". I could buy a new car for the money I have spent importing Akita to get such a sad result.

Talking to Ben today we he has a contact, looks like we are looking to get something in August. While I am not to fired up to breed, I think this is the simplest way to keep a breeder local.
