Playdate Spam (and the aftermath!)
Ryu and Roxy got to go over to their buddy Denali's house yesterday for a playdate. Ryu woke up in a MOOD yesterday but Denali didn't take any of his crap. It was awesome.
Enjoying some rawhide:
Wow - Mom! We don't get rawhides this big!
My cautious baby girl
And the best part!!! The aftermath!
Yes, she's got her front legs between the couch and ottoman LOL

I Ryu...
Kristin - join the club, Ryu has many admirers
Im jealous you got a pic of you with the both of them...that is impossible with my two.
Roxy's face is much more feminine than Ryu's, how adorable!
I also cried at the end of Marley and me brought back memories when we had to take Pearly to the vet to be euthenize it was so sad I don't cry much on movies, but this one got me. =::(
it's not the movie itself - it's the fact that Ryu and Roxy are the closest thing I have to children and when I think of the day when I wake up and they aren't there... it's impossible for me not to get hysterical. I think any of us dog owners would feel the same way. To people who don't have the pleasure of sharing their lives with an animal, it is just a movie. But to us, it hits too close to home. And though I've seen it multiple times in the 4 days that I've owned the movie, I will cry every time. Poor puppies will just have to be my kleenex : )
I read Marley and Me (And cried), still haven't seen the movie. Not ready to open those floodgates yet!
But Brandon, you should definitely read the book, then watch the movie. It is definitely a great story.
(also have read the book, and "Merle's Door" is better)
Pam, are you sure we aren't sisters?
It was a pretty scientifically good read though.
They did a house in Martinez, CA which was like 5 miles from where I lived. I went to see the taping and the house being built, but no one cool was on site at the time. BOOO..
Anyway, she and I loved the show so much that we skipped out on work to go visit the worksite one day. While we were there, we asked around about how to volunteer. We said that we could get about 10-15 deployed wives out there to lend a hand if they needed it. So, in a 24 hr period, she was able to round up a group of gals to volunteer the next day. (She's beyond awesome and headed this entire program on her own and at only 26 yrs old!) Get a bunch of lonely, patriotic wives together on an ABC function, and you've got press clamoring to get a shot of us and the cast. Needless to say, it was a great day!
I totally just hijacked my own thread! LOL
Ryu had to work some real magic on that rawhide, it was pretty big. Roxy between the ottoman and the sofa is hilarious!
I didn't like Marley and Me much, but a few tears went down my face and my throat had a knot the size of a bowling ball.
Though I'd be pretty screwed if I cried at commercials, LOL!
I haven't seen the "Marley" movie... I think I will have to watch it with my sis-in-laws sometime at a family gathering... we can have a "group" cry then! They are all the same as me! (I think its more than that post-menopausal reaction --- more a love of doggies and other sentients!)
Say, thanks for the "hijacking" too. So interesting to hear about the energy in folks to volunteer! And what a great way to take your mind off missing and worrying about your spouse while doing good for others! Looks like it was lot of fun, too!
Take care,
