Video Spam Overload!

edited April 2009 in General
I had over 2 gigs of video sitting on my camera, I finally got them all converted and uploaded to YouTube.

So, here ya go...

Luytiy & Kaia's "symbiotic relationship" - not sure what Luytiy gets out of it, but Kaia gets all the kibble he knocks out of his crate when we feed him w/ his Busy Buddy.

*Kaia has actually gained weight because of this relationship. We have reduced her RAW since she gets so much of Luytiy's "crumbs". LOL!

Hilo likes to watch himself on video.

Lazy pups.

Play...

*Run Kona, RUN!

Blue...

*I love this video!

Luytiy/Masha...

*Fuji LOVES Luytiy, it's really cute.

That was a lot of videos!

Everyone looks to be doing great. :-)

I have one question....do you guys ever get to use your couch?
  • edited November -1
haha. Yea, now that we have a TV Jen rarely leaves the couch. I use it about 2 times a week, maybe 3 if my work load is a bit lower. I wish I could have just an hour or so of TV time a day [on the couch] to unwind and get away from my PC, but it doesn't seem to be trending that way.

The couches are a pain w/ the dogs because they are constantly getting them filthy, we have to constantly clean them. We have tried covering them with something we can just remove when we want to site on it... but the dogs get so crazy on the couches nothing seems to stay on the couch for long.

Luytiy is not really allowed on the couch, same for Masha... but some how Jen seems to always forget that rule. :o\

I think it was when we hit the #6 mark that we stopped trying to manage the couch situation. In a perfect world none of the dogs would be allowed on the couch, and we could do that, but when we got passed the #6 mark we just decided it was time to choose our battles and that was a battle not worth fighting.

When we are actually watching TV only the Shibas, Loa, and Kona will get on the couch with us. The Akita know they are not really allowed up there with us (they are a bit big) and the COs are usually outside since it's usually nighttime when we both watch TV. Ahi is outside too, or in a crate - she is particularly bitchy when space is limited. We also crate a few of them sometimes when we are having TV time since that many dogs in a small space like our living room tends to create some "issues"...

I actually have come to the conclusion that to have "free range" (medium to large size) dogs that never fight you need to allow at least 4000sqf per dog - this includes the outside (fenced yard); otherwise you always need to have some put away and rotate them. We have about 3500sqf per dog right now, and are starting to see some space issues (more arguments amongst dogs). So we may prioritize our fence expansion over the construction of the barn we were going to have built (since the barn will actually reduce our space a bit). After the fence expansion we should be at about 6000sqf per dog. That was totally off the subject tho - sorry. LOL

That's interesting about the space, because my dogs get along better indoors than out. Well, the only real problem I have is that Rakka charges up to Skella, Skella starts barking and yipping, and that triggers Rakka's prey-drive and they growl and snap at each other... but only outside. Inside, they are bff, but it seems if they're out in the great wide open, they have issues.

Speaking of your barn - when are you getting alpacas? Are you going to get any other animals?

We would like to get Alpaca this year, but it will probably be next year since the economy sux so bad. We don't really plan to keep any other animals, probably just Alpaca.

We may even wait till we move, it all depends on the economy and if we purchase the land behind our home or not... We are on the fence on that - buy land and stay here longer or wait and move to a larger piece of land in Colorado (in like 4 years). We will probably go the Colorado route since it seems we need to move closer to the Colorado Springs area to really have the proper support for our pups.

I've been chatting with some Cane Corso peeps about teaching Blue to herd, he can help us move our Alpaca from area to area. I even chatted with one of the local Alpaca ranchers and she may let me train Blue at her ranch with her Alpaca (once he is old enough and has a LOT of training on him). :o)

As for the space thing, that's interesting - it could be due to having our intact males. Females seem less territorial, tho the guard resources more, while males rarely guard a resource but are very specially aware and require some space to call their own.

Also the size of our dogs compared to Rakka and Skella... things have shifted here to being dominated by large dogs.

I love Kaia being L's little eating buddy. She's so cute.

Also, L is a big time Momma's boy isn't he?
