Leaving Yoshi alone

edited April 2009 in General
I've gotta leave town for a few days and I won't be able to take Yoshi with me. We've never been apart for more than half a day, and from what my family tells me, when I'm out of the house, Yoshi gets sad and pretty much will stay under my dad's desk or my parents' room when it's time for bed.

He's obviously a one person kinda dog. So my question is, is there anything I can prepare or do so that when I'm gone for those few days, he won't get too depressed?

I know where you are coming from and I haven't found a solution. Jazz waits in the living room facing the door for me to come home

You can try to have some of your family members (if they have time and are willing) spend some alone time with Yoshi. Maybe take him on a walk every once in a while or go to the park or any sort of activity that he really enjoys, without you being there. If this is repeated enough times, hopefully Yoshi will then realize that he can have fun with other people besides you.

My folks walk him almost every night (then he gets a second walk when I get home either from work or if I'm out with friends).

Whenever someone comes home, he gives them the - "I'm not too sure about you" or "I don't like you" bark (unless it's me). But once they're inside, he'll stop after another 30 seconds or so. If I'm not home, my dad is next in line, but only after he's offered Yoshi crackers. I keep telling my dad to give him his doggy snack or kibble instead, but he says he can't help it. Yoshi looks so cute staring at him while eating, so he feels compelled to.
