Tank getting neutered = Nervous Wreck Mommy

edited May 2009 in General
I dropped my pup Tank off at 7am this morning for his neutering procedure. I decided to come in to work for at least a half day to get my mind off him. I've been mentally preparing myself for this since we brought him home months ago but I just can't seem to shake the nerves that are acting up. He's my little furball and I'm just so worried. I know he's in good hands because I trust his vet and the animal hospital but I can't help it. I keep thinking about what his little mind is going through because when I took him in he was the happiest cutieball. I played with him a bit and got him acclamated with one of the nurses (who's also a Shiba owner and just adored him) but when I started to leave he noticed and just stared with his head cocked to one side as though he was confused.

Am I the only one feeling this way? How were your experiences?

You are just being a worried Shiba Mommy! I was the same way when I dropped both my fur babies of for their Speutering.

Tank is probably sleeping now dreaming of chasing things and gobbling them all up! NOM NOM NOM! Im sure he will be just fine and will be very happy to see you when you pick him up.

Enjoy the quiet time, he will be back to his CRAZY shiba self before you know it!

Just remember to keep him comfortable and as calm as possible for about a week and make sure he doesn't bother or lick the incision site.

Nah, surgery no matter how routine makes me nervous because there's always a risk you know? But don't worry too much, he'll just be a lot happier when he sees you.

You are reacting just like any concerned pet owner would. I was rather nervous when I dropped both Bella and Nola off for their spays. More so with Bella because that was the first time I had been through having a puppy spayed.

Tank will be just fine. Just make sure you give him lots of love when he comes home!!! :)

"But don't worry too much, he'll just be a lot happier when he sees you."

Heck, in coming out of anesthesia, he'll probably be groggy but twice as happy to see two of you:)

I was the same way, feeling guilty and fearing something bad would happen. Tetsu was all excited to see the receptionists, but the minute they carried him away he was very confused. The whole time he was there, I kept worrying and worrying, so much so I did everything I could to not think about it. When we went to pick him up, the five minute wait for them to bring him up lasted forever. The moment he saw us though, he started to squirm and scream. He was just too excited to see us again and would stop 'talking', probably telling us the whole story and how something's missing. Tikaani was excited to see Tetsu again as well, you would think they hadn't seen each other in years.

It's normal to feel this way, and it says that you really care for your pups.

    Update:
The vet just called saying Tank did beautifully throughout the 20 minutes and he is just waking up from his deep sleep. There are no outside stitches, all were done on the inside with 3 layers of closure. Tonight, he can only have water and a light snack. Tomorrow everything should be done with a leash just to be extra careful, otherwise, Tank can do his normal activities unless he isn't up to it. He can be released around 3:30 this afternoon. I am ecstatic and absolutely relieved! *huge sigh*

I cannot wait to see him! I'll go in with the hub since I'm sure he's just as anxious to see Tank as I am.

Yeah Tank! At least it's Friday and you can spend the weekend spoiling and loving on him. I'm glad he went through the procedure well. I'll probably have the same post in a few months.
