Akita Breeder

So, we heard back from the breeder today about whether Henrietta (not Minnie, thats the 5 month old puppy apparently, my bad) was confirmed pregnant or not and unfortunately she's not, there are two other bitches who will, with any luck, be coming into season relatively soon but I'd fallen in love with the parents of that breeding so whether or not we'll take pups from those litters I don't know, I'll probably go back to see the other two. They were all amazing dogs and excellent examples of the breed, but you know when you just... fall in love?

So I was wondering if, in order to lift my spirits a bit, any of you could spam me a little with your Akitas tonight? I need some major cheering up. Sorry to be such a whiner and to post such random post but I'm sad.

Also, the vet bed and the clickers came today, seemingly to add insult to injury.

OH and, because life is cruel, today I got spat on by some guy from his balcony on my walk home and on the bus to work this morning some guy sat next to me and ...[edited by Admin: BradA1878]... Hmph. Bad Day.

While the end of your post made me say Wow! I am sorry you are having such a bad day. Reading some of your other post are you looking for an American Akita or a Japanese Akita?

That's pretty crazy with the guy on the bus! Don't let yourself get too down though, you'll have an Akita soon enough. I wish I could give you some spam, but all I got is this brat of a shiba.

Actually here's a few akitas that were at the meetup in april

Ah man, that sucks...I know how hard and frustrating it can be to wait. I take it you really like the Pinto??
Sorry you're having such a crap day :(

Number one piece of advice. Stop shopping for the puppy. :) I only started allowing myself to shop for Koda last week, and that was only because I am this deal seeker who ships a lot and will be out of the country for the 2 weeks prior to his arrival at the end of June.

I know it's hard, and you want to buy puppy stuff, but I can tell you from experience the wait got a lot worse once I had cute puppy toys in the house. Now it's killing me. I even bugged my breeder with mass emails this morning asking every detail of his 6 week old life ha ha ha.

Your dog will come, be patient, and what is meant to be will be. I've been waiting for Koda for a long time too. I know it's hard, but the wait is worth it.

Sorry no Akita spam. I think we have a couple American Akita on here though.

Brad, I'm so sorry, that didn't even occur to me. Thanks for the edit.

Jack, yeah it's been a tough day. We're looking for an American Akita, there aren't many Japanese in the UK from what I've looked at and the one we did meet just didn't compare to the Americans. Absolutely beautiful nonetheless, but we prefer the American in size and personality, though I know it's different by dog as opposed to by breed etc.

TJ, I know, ha. We only ordered the first set of things because we thought financially it'd be easier on us to collect it over time as opposed to buying a lot of things at once closer to the time. Unfortunately we were working under the impression that the dog was pregnant and got a little carried away, forgetting that it wasn't official. It's too exciting. John understands more than I do about the wait because his step-dad used to breed staffies.

In the long run it's better because we'll be more financially secure by the time he arrives, we could have afforded it but if anything massive came along in terms of emergencies things would've been tight due to the house move but we should be fine now. Thanks for the sympathy everyone, and the guy on the bus was just ridiculous and a little bit terrifying. I tried to get his picture on my phone to make some form of official complaint but I just wanted to get off the bus. Urgh.

I've been sating my Akita Lust flicking through other posts so I'm ok. Been reading through the training book John got me, too. We are going to be super prepared parents, let me tell you.

Again, Brad, I'm really sorry for the last line. Wont happen again :) hopefully I wont have any need to write that again but you catch my drift!

OH and Shimaura, your shiba is beautiful, don't worry I've been following your posts closely :D I talked to our breeder about Shiba as they used to also breed them a few years ago. They're beautiful and yours is particularly adorable. Thanks for the meet up posts. I hope we can start doing something like that in the UK soon, we don't really have dog parks and the like from what I know. It's a shame.

No worries, we all loose our kid filter from time to time. :o)

This is my favorite Akita pic, it's very happy...

    Hope that helps!

Did you take that photograph? it's outstanding. The colour, the placement and the background etc, it's outstanding. I love perusing your Flickr account! My fiance bought me a camera for my birthday in January, so far I've only taken shots of his band at gigs and my editing skills leave something to be desired but practice makes perfect, no? I envy yours and your wifes ranch, you maintain it beautifully :)

I'm so sorry, that must be so disappointing for you. I think sometimes the right dog just finds you, and it's not necessarily the one you would have picked! The right puppy for you must be growing elsewhere! :)

I know you prefer the Americans but here are a few photos of my Japanese Akitas, Jiro and Kinu. Out of interest, which Japanese dogs did you go and visit? I know that there are literally only a handful of Japanese dogs in the UK worth a look at, and some are not even pure Japanese and most are very poor. If you want to get your hands on some nice ones at any point I recommend Aiko Kensha. Anyway, I think I am going to be on the look out for an American this winter, I haven't made up my mind yet but I am leaning towards an American for my next dog.

Darwin, your dog is gorgeous! I love long coats.

Darwin she's adorable :D longcoats are just random pups from litters of 'normal' ones, yeah? I could happily live with such a huge fluffball :D I expect the extra grooming is intense but ohhh how worth it? Thanks so much for that lovely bit of spam, she's fabulous!

Jiro, we only met one from the breeders who had Americans. She was a beautiful pup but in comparison to all the Americans who were so much bigger and friendlier/willing to play, we just kinda fell. I'd be interested to see more Japanese Inus though, I believe that one day my partner wants to show/breed (when he's retired or we have enough money for me to look after lots of dogs at once without having to work too). I'll look into it, thanks. They are beautiful :(

Is the brindle pup in the pictures yours? Absolutely perfect looking, it's the type I'm going to sneak into the house one day when my fiances not looking :D he's not a fan. :(

Not to hijack the thread but Keith of Aiko Kensha has moved. He now lives in Hungary.

Martin are those your kids? They're so cute!
  • edited November -1
Yes Rina... they are my kids. I have one more daughter but she was at her mum's place when the picture was taken. Except for the four kids on the picture and my elder daughter I have three stepchildren too :) So when all of them are at home we have eight kids here.

The two sitting in the chair is our youngest pair of twins (Dellie and Ben) and they are four years old now. Albin and his twin sister are sitting on the floor. Tilde, who is laying on Viggo, is Viggos best friend among the kids :)

They are all so cute together.

That picture is great! Shows just what they mean about Akita being a "nanny" dog! I love it!

Two sets of twins! OH MY!
  • edited November -1
Yes the brindle pup is mine, her name is Kinu. She's a lovely dog, exact temperament you want in an Akita Inu too!

Migoo that is a lovely picture, and two sets of twins, wow! Akita's are definitely nanny dogs! Here is Jiro with my baby sister:

that was a really lovely hug :D It looks like your baby sister has got like the same relation with Jiro as Tilde and Viggo has got.

Well actually it's not that hard as it might look having two set of twins ;)
