Looks like this is the month of lost dogs...YAY! Happy Ending
Well we stopped by a McDonald's last night to grab a quick meal before rushing off to the dog's class, when I turn to see a dog peeing in the flowers. Watching it as we slowly drove through the drive-thru, there was no person following it. So I went and scooped up the poor thing and brought it into the car before it could run into the busy road.
Knocked on a few doors, but no one seems to know where he may have come from.
He looks to be a somewhat old Beagle, neutered and in good health. His nails aren't trimmed and his teeth are in excellent shape. He looks to have been wearing a collar at some point, and I hope it just fell off. He's very well mannered and sweet, so I hope we can find his family soon.
Tikaani loves him, and this old boy has some spunk before he tires out. He seems to REALLY like Tikaani, so much so that Tikaani can't sit or lay down without this old boy trying to mount him.
We shall be calling some shelters when they open to report him found and see if anyone reported him missing. After I get out of work, we are bringing him to the vet to scan him for a chip, I hope he has one.
Oh, and the pink collar we borrowed from a neighbor as all our extras were too big.
Well, here's some spam of the old boy.

I hope his people claim him.
(I know you were joking Rui

I told my Mom that if no one claims him or is we find out that he was abandoned, than I would research for a beagle rescue instead of dropping him off in the shelter. The rules for shelters around here is that if the animal appears older than 6 the dog is euthanized without a chance for adoption.
Anyways, we got a call from two people who got our information through the first shelter, and one of them was the owner. She picked him up while I was still working, and from what my family was saying, she's a bit ditsy. He had a couple of hot spots and an ear infection, but she wasn't really too concerned about it. Apparently the beagle is more her sons dog than anybody else, and she said that her son would be very excited to have him back.
Aside for lack of attention to his ear, he seemed pretty well cared for. He had nice teeth, very nice temperament and a lot more energy than what we would expect from a 10 year old dog. My mom had pegged him at about 8yrs old, but was thrown back from hearing his real age. His name is Ranger (though I think of him more as a Tucker), and he's been a very sweet and noisy visitor.
With Ranger I had the opportunity to see how my guys would react to a strange/new dog in the house. They both would bombard him with lots of sniffing. I have found that Tetsu can be possessive around my bedroom and near their crates, while Tikaani is all non-stop 'I want to play'. It helps get an idea of how they may be when we bring that new puppy into the house.
I shall end now with a short video of Tikaani playing with Ranger...
Poor Ranger got Tired at the end, and Tikaani just kept wanting to play.
I will tell you a brief beagle rescue story:
My sister lives in rural Pennsylvania and one day was driving along some local highway in farm country when she similarly saw a beagle by the side of the road looking like he could get into serious trouble with those cars zooming by. She stopped and called him over, he came and happily went for a ride in her car. She took him home and called the number on his tags, a man answered and said thanks he'll be over to pick him up. When he arrived, my sister spoke at greater length with the man and found out that he lived at one of the farms right there where she found him- in effect she rescued him from the end of his own driveway! The man said the dog is kindof an outside pet, and they dont keep him contained in any way. (not neutered either) He thanked her and offered to pay her a reward for "finding" him but she refused, feeling a little foolish, and the man took his beagle and popped him in the TRUNK of his sedan. My sister was agog- and the man seeing this said- "he's all dirty and wet, my wife will kill me if he's on the seat!" and drove away...
