It's funny how well he poses for his pictures.

Yes I know, feel free to take a picture and sample my cuteness.

He's such a nice boy. How is the nail grinder going?
  • edited November -1
You know he doesn't usually pose well for pictures, but I think he was confused since I had my new big black camera and he is used to the dinky white point and shoot. Whenever he sees the camera he usually turns his head :P.

He looks so handsome, as per usual

I can bring my dremel over Labor Day weekend... sometimes its a 3 man job :)

Miso still wont let me use the pedi paws on him, but Sake loves it :)

I have been using the nail clippers on Miso and the grinder on Sake.

Which reminds me, I have to fight with Miso tonight to get some nails cut...** Friday night fun!***

Kristin, I've been gearing myself up all week for the semi-annual Bathing of the Sheebs, so I know what it's like to dread the grooming session.

Bathing is actually 10x better than doing the nails (on Miso), he just gets so nervous and antsy! If he has his Peanut Butter Kong it's a **bit** easier, but not by much!

Some more experiments with the new camera...

His coloring is getting really red.

I think it also has something to do with Kristin's change in cameras:) Olympus's have a tendency to slightly oversaturate color tones.

Some new Miso shots, indoors because Mr. Prissy Pansy Paws refuses to go outside on the grass. He is such a weird-o.

Poor Miso is sick today :(. He had some bad runny poop last night and vomited up his dinner. I called my vet this AM and she said there is a doggie stomach bug going around and she has seen multiple dogs with these symptoms. He is still drinking water and going to the bathroom and did play with Sake a little bit last night, so she said just to watch him and if he doesn't improve by tonight to bring him in tomorrow. Poor Mopey Boy, he hates being sick.

Poor Miso! Give him some extra love for me!

Went home for lunch to check on the kids and see how Miso was feeling. I can tell he is still not 100%, but he did beg for some peanut butter so that means his tummy is feeling better. And he went outside and gave us kisses and tail wags, so I guess he is getting over whatever was ailing him :)

Miso, feel better soon! You're hosting a meetup in Sept, remember? Being sick is no excuse to cancel ;-)

No spam at the moment, I will upload some tonight though.

Just a quick story and I wanted to get your thoughts.

Miso has always been a pansy. He hates water and getting wet and will not go out on the grass if it is wet. He loathes anything involving H2O, unless it's in his water bowl. Lately when he has to go pee he takes one or two steps off the deck, goes pee and jumps back on the deck. Pooping is almost non existant in his world. He needs that book "Everybody Poops" because he is so weird about pooping. He will poop when we take him on a walk if he needs to but NOT in the yard.

SO, last night we went on our walk and no poop. So we got home. Well the dogs decided that at 1:30am was a good time for a potty break so I let them out. I notice Miso kinda freaking out on the deck so I go over and he is all up in arms because a little poop nugget came out and was on the deck. I told him just to "go potty" if he had to and went inside to get a baggy to clean up the poop nugget. When I came back he was looking at it like he was gonna eat it to get rid of the evidence! So I picked it up and discarded it and by this time Sake had already done her business and went back inside. Well Miso went inside but was constantly licking his bum bum. I figured he must really have to poop, so I brought him back outside and the minute I put him down on the deck he started to go. It was solid, but I knew he was trying to hold it in and he was SO upset that it was on the deck. I cleaned that poop up too and we went to bed for the rest of the night.

So, is my Shiba just OCD and crazy or is there a way to get him to go back onto the grass!?!?!? He won't even come out into the yard for cheese or hot dogs! And when Tucker comes over to play he only goes on the deck, NOT into the grass.

All of our walks are on grass and he is fine with that, and if there is an animal worth hunting in the yard he will gladly go on the grass but other than that he stays inside or on the deck. What's up with Mr. Prissy Pansy Paws?

What happens if you walk out into the grass- will he join you? What if you go sit in a lawn chair out in the grass?
  • edited November -1
If I go out into the grass, or play with Sake in the grass, or give cheese treats out in the grass I get NOTHING from Miso. He won't leave the deck, and sometimes he just goes back inside and won't even come outside.

He does hang out on the deck though, in his chair, lookin' soulful...

obviously you need to build a bigger deck!

Thats so funny... here he's got this great big yard to play in and would rather lounge like a human. Crazy dog.

Really nice pictures of your boy.

So he doesn't want to even walk or go out on to the grass at all? Do you think some desensitizing would help? Maybe putting him on a lead and walking him out on to the grass, doing lots of gentle repetions of that so eventually he can get over whatever phobia or sticking point it is that he has? Just a thought.
