Moldy treats
Never feed moldy treats and make sure you open bags before you get out of the store.
Ok so I purchased a bag of Dogswell Vitality treats that I picked up real quick for Wed evening training class.
Well take a look.....
Anyone have luck with the food dryers for their own dog treats?? How is that working out??
The company when emailed did not have much to say other than "it's rare" and thanks for letting them know.

That really sucks about the mold though, YUCK-O. Glad you are perceptive enough to know not to feed those to the furbabies!
I have nothing against origin, its just after the recalls (of dog food, kids toys, baby formula) enough is enough. I do not support Dogswell because of this.

I love it - I also have the jerky gun that makes life a lot easier. I still haven't made a chicken one that I'm happy with. My next purchase will be a professional slicer so I can get consistency on the slices. I currently ground the meat and then dehydrate.
Like Jen I am annoyed at the fact the company brushed it of so lightly. My thought is, what is in there we don't see.
The pet supply place ticked me off too.... When I took the item back to the store the owner made some comment how the owner of the dogwell co lived in China at the dog plant to assure quality control. Whatever, I think that tale is probably a load of crap... Anything to try to pacify the customer. I mentioned that hopefully other customers were wise enough to not feed moldy products to their dogs.
grumble grumble....

Not sure who the distributor is.

This sucks, this isn't an isolated incident, as I found out when I voiced my complaint to my vet. And yet.. this company keep$ on going.
I am going to my own resources for making stuff. I can't take all the garbage.
Oh and for those of you who have dogs on eagle pack 6 that company is being bought by Wellness. I am not sure what the plans are for the formula but be aware there may be a change. Most stores have that brand on hold since distributors are changing for shipping in the product.

Anybody know of any other chicken jerky alternatives that are sort of tough to chew on like the Dogswell treats?
We ended up making do with a bag of Barbaras cheese puff bakes fwhich was shared with the rest of the class. Someone else came up with nutter butters and that worked for the drills and allowed enough for each animal to have a half of cookie.
Rule of thumb have extra food in hand just in case.

I have a few leashes in the car, dog first aid kit, bowls, lots of blankets and towels. Duct tape and flea-combs to de-tickify after outings.
We were not able to get the jerky gadget or extra trays. So we have not ventured into that yet.
LJ have you made jerky strips from beef or chicken for your dog(s)? The recipe guide states they should be cooked before making into jerky.....Have you had to do that?? Also, did you marinade the meat first?

As far as keeping treats in the car we don't do that only because of heat and humidity. Invariably the bag of treats fall under the seats or gets misplaced, thus items go stale or are not in a good state when found. It's easier to keep them (food items) in a pack or carry all that you take with you to all events. If you go to public parks or camping it is advised not to keep food items in your car. It really depends on where you go and your immediate needs etc.
