I think this is an excellent method. Instead of correcting or redirecting, you simply reward the dog for the dog choosing to ignore something of (possible) interest -smiles-.
That is a great video - the only thing I would not do is give the treat that the dog is going for. You notice that she held out her hand and when the dog left it, she rewarded with the same hand. Instead, I would suggest using the other hand to give the reward. Otherwise, some dogs may think, even though you say "leave it"...eventually they will get that specific thing they want, since they are used to getting it when training. I much prefer the way she is clicking/treating with the food on the floor. Leaving the food on the floor, clicking and treating with a different treat instead of the one the dog is leaving.
