Back from Washington DC (Family Reunion)

edited August 2009 in General
We went to DC Last Thursday and FINALLY made it back at the crack of dawn this morning. We had a GREAT time!!! The dogs did SO well on the ride there and back! And they even got along with my brother-in-laws JRT Jack! Jacks an old man now......so we werent sure if he was going to handle two crazy puppies in his home. But they all got along very well!

We took a TON of pictures....but I'm sure they would bore you since they are mostly of family. But we DID go downtown and visit a few monuments and the Smithsonian. (I've lived in DC mostly ALL of my life, just moved to ohio five years ago, and in that time I've only done the tourist thing ONCE! hahah How sad!)

So anyway...here are a FEW pics just to show that we did actually leave Ohio. lol

I love DC - looks like you guys had a great time. My favorite thing in DC isn't too far from the Jefferson Memorial. It's a sculpture at the end of Haine's Point called "The Awakening" - when I get to DC (every couple of years or so), I always go out to the point at sunrise to see the sculpture.

    Welcome back!

I have shot that I took in 2005 that is just of the face - it hangs in my office.

You guys should have come up to NY! We have plenty of vaguely phallic structures that you can use forced perspective on!

It looks like a blast. I've never been to DC. I'd go just to see the Smithsonian. I love museums.

    When did it move?

    **edit**
Just read wiki on it, I'm so disappointed that this won't be a part of my DC routine anymore. The first time I saw this sculpture I cried - I was 8 yrs old - it had been there just over a year.

I saw pics of it in its new location - I don't think it does it justice.
