Anybody know of jersey Shore dog beaches?

edited August 2009 in General
Anybody from PA/NJ that knows where in NJ (south of Atlantic City) there would be a doggie beach? I know most at this point wont allow dogs..but i THOUGHT there was one that just opened up, or at least dog allowed?

We're going to the "jersey shore" (god knows what that means as this is a trip my cousins in law from Philly take all the time--at least it's narrowed down to south of AC)...I'd really love to take Spuds to a beach again...though i question the water, it ain't Maine!

Thanks!

I don't know of any beaches that are dog beaches, but I know where they don't check. ;) haha.
In south Jersey, they don't check between towns, at the bridges. So, this would be between Avalon and Stone Harbor and then between Avalon and Sea Isle.

If you enter Avalon from the mainland ( Near Dennis twp ) there is also a 'little beach' on the bay on the left right before you get into town, and dogs are allowed there. They pulled back the turtle nets so people can park there again.

Been going down to Avalon since before I could talk, and we used to own a place down there. I wish we still did. lol.

You don't go to the Jersey shore...you just go down the shore...and don't drink the wudder....

what is that supposed to mean?

It's how they say it in Jersey! Even after living in Philadelphia for 3 years, I still do a double take when people ask if I would like some "Wudder"....

oohhh. I must be really sleepy I usually jump all over any chance to trash Joyzee. Any way I have to go PAHK my Caa some where else because they might start working on my ruff again.

well we live on lawn guy land down here.

The best thing about cash for clunkers is that I think it may have seriously impacted the White IROC Z Camaro population on the island.

    Hey Irene,

A great place to go with the dogs would be Higsbee Beach. We go every so often.. Look it up - it doubles as a bird reserve. It's the south most point of New Jersey, and you have to cut through a sand path through a beach forest to access the shore.

Great place for the dogs. Last we went, we stayed about 3 hours. Saw only 2 other people there - both with dogs. A nice, out of the way beach, which is also said to be haunted! I think technically during the "summer season" it's not a dog beach (off season, it is), but hardly anyone goes there anyway, so I don't see why not.

Island Beach State park is the only beach down the shore I know of that allows dogs.....but, of course, it's not south of AC. It is pretty awesome, however. We have a Jeep that we used to park on the beach and hang with the pups last year. Even our foster Koji got the opportunity to join us last year.

thanks for everybody's input! I will have to do some quick research...after i find out where the hell we're supposed to be!

Joe, you must be too tired, i was hoping you'd do the trash talking for me hehe..I vote for a fire island meetup after Sept..they allow dogs! That and i've never been there.

I'll see what i can get away with down at the "shore" thing...so bizarre to have to drive over 20 mins to get to the ocean ;-P
