Party tomarrow party went well! =)

my parent's are having a party with their high school friends which is great I thought it'd be good for the two puppies to meet more new people, but my dad says he wants Bella locked up downstairs. I was hoping to have both pups upstairs it's unfair to Bella to have Saya upstairs and her downstairs just because she's a bit bigger than Saya.

Bella is a good dog she can be a bit jump thanks to my dad, but I think if I keep a leash on both pups while people are arriving and once she's meet them all and calmed down have her unleashed. I seen on it's me or the dog if the dog jumps up she leashes the dog and removes it for a few seconds then bring the dog back in I'm thinking of doing that for Bella and Saya.

I believe Bella will behave with guests around we had lots of people over before when we had Pearly and Junior and they were crazy boxers too we did fine with those two so I don't know why my dad is all thinking Bella is some monster dog that can't behave around people.

I plan to crate Bella and Saya when it comes time to eat, but once we are done they come out none of the friends are allergic to dogs or are afraid of dogs so I see no reasons for keeping our furry kids away during company.

In the morning me and my mom are taking Bella and Saya to a charity dog walk so that will be their morning walk and Saya will go to her last puppy class after that I'll walk Bella and before people come I plan to walk Bella and Saya. I think that keep them semi calm.

Any other tips for this party? I want to prove to my dad that Bella can behave around guests she did well when my grandmother stayed for a few days and she behaved even better no jumping or anything when my mom's friend stayed for a week so I think she can do it. I do plan to give her a frozen peanut butter Kong to keep her busy at first.

I hope to get a few pictures of the party so I'll give a report how it went and some pictures when I can.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Wish I had some advice to give you. Make sure they're good & tired out from their walks is the best I have.

Also, no treats / toys / high value items that the dogs can fight over!

Best of luck & have fun! ~

I agree with tired. However you bloody well have treats if you want some means to keep the dogs attention on you and not mooching/stealing from the guests. Also keep an eye on the dogs to make sure that they are not being overwhelmed.Sometimes overstimulated dogs shutdown. And that is NOT fair to the dogs.

Honestly Nicole, I don't really know your living situation, but assuming you are living in your parents' house, I would respect your father's wishes, as it is his house. Have a great time at the party, and should you choose to have Bella around, the first instance she acts up I'd recommend you take her away from the party.

unfortunately for what you want I agree with Irene. Going against your Dads wishes is likely to bring trouble which will, in turn, effect the party and and more importantly your pups experience of so many humans. Maybe you could have her out to greet the first half of the party (inevitably there are early birds and late comers) and before a) you frustrate your dad, and b) potentially over-stimulate your dog, then you could remove her to chew on something yummy. I suspect my response is too late though as I'm pretty sure the party is underway about now, according to the time of posts.

I hope everything went well :)

Everything went well my dad just gets nervous about doing parties.

Bella was well behaved compared to what she used to be she did try to jump on one of the guests just once, but she was unleashed karen forgot to leash her, but once she got used to everyone she was calm and licked their hands and was wiggling. Once it came time for dinner I put Bella in her crate then after dinner I brought Saya out to meet everyone she was very happy to see a lot of new people she had her favorite toy in her mouth walking to eat person that was sitting doing her growling routine.

I took both Bella and Saya on a walk then when I came back I gave Bella some more time with the guests and I gave her kong with frozen peanut butter to keep her calm I was able to drop her leash and she just worked on her kong then once it was empty she went on to carry her kong around the yard tossing it around and playing with it.

Before the party I talked to my dad about the dogs I told him I'll keep them under control so he said fine and after the party he commented how nice the puppies behaved he didn't expect it so I'm glad things went well and the weather was nice for the party.
