My mom just had a bad experience..

So I'm not sure if I mentioned this but my mom used to be scared of dogs because she was bit when she was a child. She used to go on walks by herself but I always suggested that she walk kelly for some company but she was scared that she could not handle Kelly and something would go wrong. But as time went on shes grown to love and trust Kelly and has even been taking her for walks. But yesterday unfortunately while they were on their walk, a "large scary dog" as described by my mom was off leash and roaming around. The dog came running over and barking at my mom and Kelly started barking back. Luckily before the dog could reach them, the owner shouted out to get the dog back. My mom came back pretty shaken.

Sucks that the dog wasn't leashed and was roaming around on a big street like that. The dog actually crossed the street half way and luckily there were no cars at the time (and i say lucky because its a busy street.)

So another sucky situation with an off leash dog. And sucks for us cause my mom enjoyed walking Kelly but I'm not sure she would want to anymore.

Tell your mom she has my permission to kick the idiot who doesn't bother to leash his dog (and you should try to find out who it is so we can all beat the crap out of him).

Your poor mother, I hope this incident doesn't affect her relationship with Kelly

Yay for Kelly defending your mother. I'll bet she knows about her hesitation around dogs, especially strange dogs.

Maybe you or another member of the family should go with your mother for a while? Or we could all go with Beth to explain so nicely about putting a leash on your dog. Either way works I guess : )

Sorry that happen it always burns me up when I saw a unleashed do walking the streets it's just so dangerous. I hope things go well with your mom I know fears like this can be hard to get past. =\
