Deer hunt part 2

edited November 2009 in General
Well went out again today after my Wife told me to get out of the house. I left the dogs at home this time since this buck I have been after is giving me the slip. While trying to locate the deer herd I stumbled across a stinky dead pig carcass with a Coyote picking at it. I flung an arrow at the Coyote and missed. Lucky Yote!

Here's some photos of beutiful San Diego mountains and the dead pig.

No luck in today's hunt then?

Nope. I had a great time watching the wild life and being th only one out there. I was hunting with a Bow and the deer were just too far away. Its nice to take a break from the rifle once in awhile.

I was camoed from head to toe but the deer was just a little too smart today. I got really close to a few turkey hens feeding within 10 feet of me.

Should be starting to green up in California soon right? I'm always shocked at how different the landscape in California is from season to season.

We are waiting on the rains and once it pours a few times, around late feburary every thing greens up.

Oh wow, I didn't realize it took until February. Either way, looks like a sweet landscape to look at all day!

Must be something wrong here or am I the only one who can't see the pics?

ayk: You need to first start with getting a state hunting license and the apropriate tags for the animal you plan to hunt. Then you need to get a good U.S forest service map which will tell you where you can hunt and areas that are marked as private.

I would not recommend taking a dog out and running the dog without prior training. One thing to consider is you cant hunt with dogs during archery season and remember that there are other hunters out there with dogs due to bird season.

Check with the Department of Fish and Game and check out the reg's on the dog training seasons.

Dave - Green is for Spring :) . We live in desert...haven't had hardly any rain this year :( , we are in desperate need of it!

Gen - It's very peaceful to sit and watch the wildlife...the simple things in life are indeed the most enjoyable. I like bow and it's probably...but don't quote me on this...all I will ever hunt with. I've done Physical Fitness Training in ROTC with the rifle and have something against it now, lol (of course the rifle was modified for in school teenage use). Besides, I don't have training on rifle, but I've done some Archery. I think I'll be more quiet with bow...

...anyways, hope you catch your meal the next time. Wait...there's a part 3 to this I think...-checks-
