Hello David, this looks like a brochure of the breeder, but the sire is very nice. 5 pups is a pretty high number for shikoku. But no pictures yet from your pups, I guess?
Nippo show is finished now, I have seen the winning shikoku, she is absolutely fantastic. So two more days to go for you. The pup is just over 3 months now, is he already vaccinated? Lot's of administrative hazzle to go through, but at least it's worth it! Let's hope for the perfect caracter as well! Very keen to see some puppy pics :-)

They look like itty werewolves :) It's neat how you can definately see the liitle shikoku features in such young pups.

Interesting that 5 pups is considered pretty high for a Shikoku. Is that comparable to the other medium-sized Nihon Kens?

In Jindos, I've seen several 7-pup litters and even one 9-pup litter. Average litter size is 4.

Nico, By total coincidence That photo is from an article in the Sept issue of a Japanese ,shiba Inu magazine. They featured a story on this shikoku breeder and one of those three pups pictured is actually one that is hopefully coming to me. The last pic of the sire is from last yrs. Nippo Ive been told he took first in the young adult class. Yes, supposedly & hopefully she is fully vaccinated . You have no idea how challenging this has been, there is a chain of 5 people ( myself, my Japanese friend, a nippo judge, the breeder, and a transporter) all working to bring this together & every link has to hold. It is a true test of perseverance and patience!! Nico , you also asked what region she is coming from, ..Chiba is the city, it is right on the ocean, not far from Tokyo.

Any news yet? Curious to know if all 5 did their job well :-)

I just got an E-mail from the nippo judge she is on the plane!!!!!!!!!! but I am still very nervous ,the flight is very long.
  • edited November -1
I am sure your pup will be just fine on the flight. Puppies at that age usually just go with the flow.

And yay, I am so excited for you guys! I expect a TON of spam tomorrow. :-D

will he/she have a pedigree as well? It sounds like all will be okay, as long as customs are not to much trouble…

Casey, the plan is that I will be picking her up in Ill. Fri. morning then a long drive home but I'll get some pics up as soon as I can!!
Nico, She is Nippo registered but I opted not to reg. her JKC. I didn't really see any reason to. What are your thoughts?
  • edited November -1
I'm so excited! I can't wait to see her.
  • edited November -1
I'd love to know who her parents are.

And I'm fairly sure I know who the NIPPO judge is that helped. I only know of one judge who is also Shikoku breeder :) .

Can't wait to see recent photos of her.

Congratulations! How nice it all worked out. Some stressful days, but it payed off :-)
Well, I asked for the pedigree, just in case you are willing to breed with the dog. But not shure that's one of your plans.
Looking forward to see the first pictures of your little Shikoku. Ours is just a bit younger, but no pics yet, he never sits still for a photo. So we have to wait a bit, I guess.
Anyway, lots of fun, keep us posted!

    Congrats!

I hope you plan to test her health and temperament and feel out the real need before heeding the call to breed.
