A very close friend of the family is a hunter [ I've known him since I was 2 but never knew this! So I'm stoked to have found a hunting resource LOL ]

Neways, I was telling him how hubby & I are interested in hunting. [ turkey or deer, not hogs, boars aren't kosher lol ] & he was telling me, "You have to watch out for those pigs though. They WILL kill you. If you shoot one & don't kill it, you're a goner!"

haha He has a lot of stories on whilst he was out hunting deer, they've stumbled upon wild boar that just went nuts on them.

So...even if someone doesn't hunt boar, they're still a pretty big threat ;)

It's really amazing to see the strength that goes into these hunting dogs & the courage they have to face a wild pig. I wouldn't want to face one unless I was armed to the teeth!~

Lol tiger vs boar = tiger wins in this house

(I was born year of the tiger, Errik was born year of the boar/pig lol)

What is shocking to me in that video is not the tenacity of those boar, but the speed. They are fast!

Yea, the video quality was horrible, in one of the clips I didn't know who was getting who. But...

The speed is really shocking to me too, and the one clip where the puma attacks, then the boar shows him/her what is up... and the the boars chases the Puma! LOL.

I have watched a lot of hunting vids, and i usually am not bothered by them, especially when dogs are hunting boar... but in these clips I found my self wanting to turn away fearing the boar was gonna get hurt. I dunno, even tho the boars were obviously kicking some butt, I still felt like they were way over-matched - they just look so... well... dumb, i guess. :oT

The cat that had its belly on the warthog's face- THAT was hard to watch- Soft belly so close to the tusks..,

I don't know what preconception everyone else had going into watching this video, but I actually felt bad for every big cat as soon as I saw the relatively equal size the boars had with the them.

From what I've heard from stories handed down by various hunters, a wild boar is nothing to scoff at.

Most of those pigs were actually juavalina (not related to swine), african bushpig, and the wart hog. The juavalina is one mean animal. I went on a juavalina archery hunt in Arizona a few years back and when I shot one, the entire group of adult juavalinas came back and surrounded the one I killed, They have horrible sight but great hearing and smell. I would not put any of my dogs up against a Juavalina, they are known to kill dogs and attack small children just for fun. I would rather go hands on on a 300 lb eurasion wild boar then a 80lb Juavalina.

Those wart hogs have 5inch plus cutters and they are built like a small tank. Another animal I would never put dogs on. Most of the time you cant even eat them because of the parasites in their body. My uncle is a hunter who goes to africa alot and they use wart hogs for lion and leopard bait.

    Nice video!

I believe it was javelinas that cut up Old Yeller actually. Right before he got rabies. And they were attacking Lil Arliss in the first place, which is why Old Yeller had to get involved. I recall being terrified reading that scene, the author did those pigs some respect.

Old Yeller was a mountain cur.

    and fictional.

    but still...
