Winter wonderland

edited February 2010 in General
Finally got around to downloading pics off the camera. These were taken a week before the big snow, during the big snow and the day after it finally stopped snowing.

lol! Before I got to the second set, I was curious to know what you mean by 'big' snow. :-D

Looks like all the pups had a blast playing!

I love how snow brings out the puppy in all dogs! Thanks for sharing. :-)

Wow, cool you had so much snow overthere, and good we didn't :-) Well, on the sake of great photo's it would have been a lot of fun, but so is watching these cool guys playing around! Well done.
How challenging it is to take pics from black dogs in the snow!

The camera was throwing a fit. The dogs had a great time through. We have had a few warm days and some rain so some of the snow has melted. We are suppose to get more tonight though. This is the most we have had in several years. Over the past couple of weeks we have had close to 20 inches of snow. To top it off we live out in the country so we get alot of drifting as well. We had to dig a path around the fence line because they dogs were walking to the top of the drifts and looking over the fence. Tora jumped from the top of the drift over the fence when she saw me come home the one day. Luckily she is such a momma's girl she ran straight to me. We had dug a tunnel for them through the biggest drift, but Fuu decided she did not like it and dug through the roof. That is the picture where all you can see is her butt sticking out of the snow.

    Yayayaay it's Koda's extended family. :)

Your shibas are beautiful! Their coats are just amazing. Do you give them supplements or is it just natural?

Tora looks just like Koda now. Especially the one with her peeking behind the snow and the one with her eyes slightly closed and her ears to the side kind of. It's really kind've freaky how much they look alike. It's like I'm looking at Koda playing. Does she like to dig dig dig and eat it? That's my boy's favorite passtime in the snow.

On fuu it is all natural. Kuma does get some supplements in his food to keep his coat in top condition. I recently started them on grain free and raw. They just finished blowing coat and are so scruffy looking right now. I am hoping the grain free and raw will help thicken their coats once it comes back in.

Tora loves to dig in the snow and all of them eat it. Tora dug herself a hole. She will go and pounce on one of the Shibas and then run back to her hole for safety.

Ooh the raw is going to definitely help Kuma. Do both Fuu and him show?

Koda gets raw and grain free too. Did you start Tora on it at all? It has worked wonders on his coat. His brindle is also coming in a little more too lately, but that may just be because I think he is about to blow coat. His butt was looking just a wee bit scraggly last night.

Koda is just like his sis. He likes to dig himself combat holes too. I do think he needs another dog at home to play with though. :D

Fuu does not show any more. She hated it. She loved to go, but never wanted the judge to touch her in the ring. After being excused several times, I decided it was not worth it. The more we worked with her, the worse she got. Tora is on raw and grain free as well.

Well, it has started snowing here again. The dogs were playing for awhile, but I think even they are getting tired of it. Worst part is the wind is blowing and we are getting alot of drifting. Gotta keep a close eye on the drifts because Tora has already figured out that she can walk to the top of a drift and hop the fence.

So you need an extra winter fence than. It would to bad loosing the dog in all the snow. They probably wouldn't freeze but the question is if they would find their way back home if all hey remember is meanwhile covered with snow. Too bad for them, it must be so much fun to play in a massive amount of snow like that. I am not sure I would like to see the same here…
