Will do Dave. I'll probably see Suzuki-san again next week or the week after so will tell him Koshi is doing well.

So after seeing Shoushuu at the expo, I now want a regular sesame Shikoku instead of black sesame.

Both of the pictures on the wikipedia page here are regular sesame right?

Yes Jeff, both of those are sesame/red sesame. The color is basically a range/balance between black and red hairs.

For instance, both Kuma (light red) and Sachi (puppy) are registered as red sesame, but they are pretty different in color. Sachi's body is lighter, but her face and legs are dark

There are 3 types of shikoku ken

    1. Red Sesame = more red than black hairs
    2. Sesame = equal mixture of black and red hairs
    3. black Sesame = more black than red hairs

So I guess Kuma must be a Red Sesame, and Sachi must be a Sesame?

It is also possible that a pup is born as a "Red Sesame", but will develop in some months into a "Sesame". So the black hair may just show months later.

Kuma and Sachi are both registered red sesame but I would classify Kuma as a true red sesame and Sachi as a sesame. :-)

Aww on the Koshi pic! Her markings on his face are cool.
