cute as a button
My friend had a couple litters of shiba puppies recently. She used a new male that came from black and tan bloodlines. the goal was to have black and tan litters, but that did not happen. Just goes to show what looks good on paper does not always turn out to be. She ended up with 3 cream pups in one of the litters. One of the creams is also a long hair pup. While he does not meet the shiba standard, he is still cute as can be.

(though I gotta admit, the regular coated Shibas have plenty of hair for me!)
I'd love a cream shiba inu they look so cute and a fluffy one is even cuter!

The long hairs are so cute.
According to a study by Sheila Schmutz and Tom Berryere, all and only the Akitas with the e/e genotype (two coppies of recessive red) are cream, cream to white or white coloured. As a result an Akita which is homozigous for recessive red, may carry the gene for brindle and may produce brindle litters, although he appears cream/white, due to the fact that the e/e genotype stops him from producing any black pigment in its coat.
Any dog with the e/e genotype, would have the black markings in its coat (solid black, brindle, tan points, sadle etc) turned to red.
