Mine are more than willing to clean the litter box.
I love the rope video. It is so amazing to watch a)how fearless Ahi is b) how benevolent Luytiy is and c) how no one gave Blue the time of day no matter how many play bows he tried.
In the rope vid Luytiy actually corrects Ahi, I had not seen that before, and you can tell Ahi is like "WTF?" when he does it. Then she goes right back to being a pain-in-the-ass. Then Luytiy tries to smack her for it. LOL
Truth be told about Blue, he is totally scared of Ahi, that's why he is so unsure w/ the play bows and barking. :oT
Look at Kona's body posture after Luytiy grabs that rope from underneath Ahi, he kinda freaked out a little bit . It almost looks like he was saying. "oh god why did I bring this thing over here."
ha ha ha. That is classic! Kona is like "oh shit the big man's upset walk away like I know nothing". I love how Ahi goes toe to toe with the big L.....and again Kona is a punk for running off. It's like he has to have the last word before ending the game. Too cute!
Blue is amazing by the way. He is all grownz up and so handsome. I want to steal him and Ahi now.
Kona couldn't have given any more calming signals in that few seconds, could he? I think he licked his lips like 1000 times. "Please Luytiy, don't freak out and step on me, just take the rope, its yours".
Poor guy has been stepped on by Luytiy a few too many times, when L is "in the zone"... So now Kona is not so comfortable around BIG L. This situation got to the point where Kona would just flat-out attack Luytiy when Luytiy would start to guard, we have been working on some "relationship building" with him and L. I think it is starting to pay off, Kona is a lot more comfortable. Over winter he wouldn't even go outside in the dark because he could see Luytiy. Kinda sad. (
We keep them separated during most of the day now, but then let them out together mid-day (the time when there is least likely to be any need to guard) and supervise them. Its helping a lot, actually. Also, Luytiy is maturing and starting to use his head a bit more while guarding, and doesn't guard as often now (higher threshold). So, things are getting better, but I don't think they will ever be best buds again.
Luytiy is really good with the dogs and takes a lot of abuse from them, he's very benevolent with all of them... but when he is "in the zone" he will step on anyone who is in his way, its terribly hard to manage.
I had the same issue with Kohji and News. When News would be "in the zone", running back and forth in the house from window to window, (which was probably a mixture of prey drive and guarding when he would see people or animals outside the home) he would plow over any of the other dogs in his way. This frightened Kohji in particular, and it's really hard to get a dog that is in a heightened state of awareness to be also aware of signals from the other dogs around it. They kind of zone everything else out which can lead to the smaller dog getting trampled on, hence escalating their communication up the ladder of aggression to the next level.
That's very interesting Kelly. I can imagine it being extra difficult to deal with in a home, I can imagine that is very hard. It would be impossible to control with Luytiy in the house. Is that why you placed News?
That ladder concept is interesting, I've read about it before. It would be neat if it worked that linearly.
I think they missed lip curl/showing teeth in that ladder.
