  • That bed is huge! Ghost will be able to sprawl in that one for sure!
  • That's a really nice bed!
  • Wow. That IS a nice bed! Hmmm... I wonder if I got Bella one if she would stop hogging my bed. :)
  • Awesome bed :)

Casey, u know the pups just want to sleep where we sleep! Lol
  • lol... Julie, it would not be so bad, but she really does hog like 4/5ths of the entire bed!
  • @sunyata Koda too! I have a huge bed, and I'm always falling off the side or pushed right up against the edge. Usually by his butt! Thank goodness he's not a gassy dog. That would suck.

This bed is pretty awesome. But phew the price! I thought I liked to spend money. My eyes shot out of my head. Watch next week I'll order one.
  • i think i can fit 2 ghost's in this bed. the weird thing is that he will sometimes still sleep on the floor beside the bed!
  • I'm thinking about getting some Kuranda beds for some outdoor lounging space. Not sure if that will diminish the number of dog-sized craters that are routinely dug around here or not ;) I'll have to see if they ship to FPO addresses.

There are a few Orvis regular round beds around here, and they are popular with the Trio in the winter. Fortunately they are not destroyers/eaters of bedding.

The 'beds' that I get the most use of though, are these horse saddle pads: http://www.bitofbritain.com/PolyPads_All_Purpose_Saddle_Pads_p/0163.htm

These things are great - they are durable, easily washable even in the Italian micro-machines, dry quickly and are easy to pack for road trips. Their dimension fits perfectly in a 400 crate. Plus, for me they are dual purpose - I use them for their actual intent on my mare Lilly too! I have some PolyPads that are at least 10 years old and just now showing some minor wear on the edges.
  • I can recommend Pet Beds Direct (http://www.petbedsdirect.co.uk/) for durable dog beds. I got mine from there after my dog destroyed the last one I got and the one I have now is as good as new after a few months.
  • Oooh horse saddle pads...wonder if that will be a good topping for my kuranda bed...

  • I purchased kuranda beds a year ago and love those beds. The beds are still in one piece and the dogs love it.
  • Just ordered a bed for my pup; hope he likes it. How long did your dogs take to get used to the beds?
  • My dog used to love dog beds (like he never slept on anything else) but has since decided he likes the coach more---even if I put the dog bed on the coach. Last night he slept on our bed NEXT to his dog bed.
  • well if you're messy like me, my dogs have a mountain of dirty clothes with a towel over it as their bed. LOL. they love it because its pliable and they can burrow into it. It may sound weird, but it was their choice, they never really liked the idea of dog beds for some reason. Neither are chewers either, so i wouldn't suggest it if they like to eat your stuff. :)
  • I made a bed out of some 1/2 inch fake blue fur and an old body pillow that I ripped in half. At first the dogs didn't know what to do with it, then before I knew it, all three were trying to lay on it at once. It's big enough for a Shiba to fit comfortably, and a 50 pound dog can curl up on it and not hang over the edges.
I'll try to get a picture later.
  • My dogs love the kuranda beds.
  • Here is our little guy on his new bed. Don't mind my daughter...she's always amused when Hiro cleans himself.

  • So cute! He's gorgeous!

Looks like he enjoys his bed!
  • Dogs are allowed on the furniture here, but even so, we have several kinds of beds, largely because Jeff works at Orvis and we get a sweet employee discount.

In Sage's Safe Spot (under my desk) I have a kuranda cot with a wool army surplus blanket on it (except when he nests and kicks it off), he seems to enjoy it when the dryer is running or other scary things happen. Since he also likes to lay on our mesh deck chairs, I think he likes the cot structure.

We have a piecemeal bed with a cover and an insert that didnt go together- its very big and we put a waterproof cover on the insert. This is Reilly's bed (she leaks sometimes in her sleep). We recycle/mismatch a lot of dog bedding when covers or inserts wear out, so its tough to say many of our beds are one brand.

Sage sleeps at night on a round bolstered fleece cover with a fancy orvis memory foam insert that we got free when it was used in a photo shoot. Its probably too small for him, but it was free! He starts out curled up, but later stretches out so his hips are on the memory foam, but his shoulders and head are on the floor (usually on my clothes, because like Kel, I also throw my clothes on the floor at the end of the day. I think Momma's Boy Sage likes the smell.)

We also have a WaterShed dog bed- which Juno is modelling as I type this, you just cant see her :) - that's a nice outdoor bed for the deck, you can leave it out there since water goes right thru it. We also use it inside in the winter in my studio- Juno prefers it to the couch or kuranda bed at the moment- its got nice loft! (Actually she and Reilly never choose the K-cot now that I think of it). Note- not for leaky dogs inside, because, yes, the water runs right through it.

Juno has a 'futon' bed in her crate, when I am at work. She likes it fine and caches toys under it. Her sleeping spot of choice is on the bed with us though. Also where she waits while I shower or get dressed, etc. She's quite the loyal sidekick.
