Dog limit
How do you find the limit to dogs in the household? I tried looking under county ordinances for Dekalb on the animal control site but cant find it....grrrr....
Does anyone have any problems with Akita's on the house insurance?

For a lot of insurance companies, Akitas make the short list of unacceptable dogs. You might be able to buy a more expensive policy or something though, if they don't cover akitas.
I'd call your city hall or county court house and ask about dog limits.
I just checked my area and it seems Orange County is considered as a whole, no matter what city, i guess all the same laws apply if you're within Orange County limits. You can only have 3 dogs per household. If you have more than 3 dogs over the age of 4 months, you must have an animal permit.
I found this information on the HCA Animal Care Services website and searched by county.
LOL Rina,
I believe its 3 dogs per household and 3 cats per household. I guess it doesn't matter how many DIFFERENT animals you have....as long as you only have 3 of EACH. Well, thats what im guessing. That website isn't very informative. But here is the link:

I looked this up too when we were in GA and couldn't find any info - I would contact your county, then they will point you to who to ask from there. Here in Taos it limited by the county.
Last time I checked, you could have up to 9 cats before having to apply for a Cattery. Maybe that was Riverside County? And technically up to 4 dogs.
However, it really doesn't matter. Just take care of your animals, keep them clean, healthy - both physcially and mentally. And keep them in check, always be in control. So long as you have no complaints and they are well, should be fine. I know some people consider it "polite" to notify their neighbor about doing the kennel thing, but don't. Sometimes that backfires and neighbors aren't so friendly! Just do and keep your dogs under control! Animal Control will appreciate the least amount of work on their part, lol. <-- ever watch Animal Presient (sp?)?
I know somebody who lives nearby who has 15 Chihuahuas! I'm pretty sure they are not liscensed nor do they have any "kennel permit", but they take great care of their dogs. <--- and that's the important factor. I mean, think about it. If someone "rats" them out, where are these dogs going to go? They have a perfectly great home and are being well taken care of where they are now. So why would someone want to jepordize that? That's just cruel. <-- they aren't breeding btw, but just have that many dogs. I think it's like a mulit-generation home with every person having a dog of their own, lol. Not to be sterotypical or anything, but they are a Mexican family.
Also, I think it is pending on property too. I mean, the more property you have the more dogs you may be allowed. There are some places in O.C. that allow only 2 dogs per household (I think it just has to do with housing, not animal control). However, there are others where you can have 3...maybe 4 dogs? Also, even though you may very well live Orange County. There are certain cities that aren't monitored by the Orange County Animal Control, but fall into their own regulation or another's district.

=(^-^`)= Yeah...I'm still stuck with Riverside County laws - for the 4 dogs and 9 cats:
