  • The funny thing is my Shibas act like that in the house....well, at least Bel does. She bounces off things just do it, runs halfway up the door then bounces from there to a chair, to the sofa, etc......She'll REALLY do it chasing a laser pointer, but if she's excited enough she'll do it anyway.....Never to the extent of this dog though!

    Great video!
  • I have seen this. He is awesome. That is one lovely pibble. I suspect I could totally get Ruby to do this.
  • Wow, that is seriously impressive.

That has to come from some innate desire to climb and explore right? I wouldn't even begin to have the faintest semblance of an idea about how to train something like that. How would you begin training a dog to do that stuff?
  • @dlroberts
Dave, I really don't know, but I suspect that the dog has to have some tendency to climb/jump to be able to learn and enjoy this. The dog in the video (american staffordshire? Staffordshire bullterrier? Pit bull terrier? Some sort of muscle dog) clearly enjoys it and does it with impressive energy!

I wonder if a kai could ever be motivated to do this kind of thing? They sure would be able to, if they have a reason to do it (food, toys, whatever). But then again, afterwards, you wouldn't be able to keep them in anywhere! They just skip the wall and go explore! HAHA
  • Start with basic agility. Most of what that dog did could be reinforced through agility training.
  • Could be so fun, but teaching a kai more about climbing trees, walls, fences etc. is probably not a brilliant idea! XD
  • OMG it's Maymay in Pibble form! he he he. My parents live with that. We did train her out of it in the house. But the first couple of weeks was rough!
  • Haha, you must have had your hands full then! Can't wait to get my own kai!
