I was going to say Aloe, but it looks like you already have that. Anything with some type of thorns. This may take a trip to a nursery.

Shibas are little stinkers. I know it's bad, but what a cutie.

My Kais would actually never do this because somehow they know what would annoy me and they tend to stick to the behavior they think I want from them.

There is a local nursery that has some cactus looking plants made from steel, those might be our best option! Thanks for the suggestion.

have you considered making like a dog-digging area? kind of like a sandbox? you could hide toys and other things in it too so he wouldn't get bored. that way he'd have his own digging area and might leave the rest alone.

I don't know, just a suggestion : )
