  • Nice dogs! Dang do they have some straight rears though.

    Eishin is super good looking.
  • He is Ayu's sire right?
  • @lindsayt - Please forgive me, because I am such a novice when it comes to conformation... What exactly do you mean by straight rear? Do you mean no angulation around the knee?

Okay, end hijack... Those are some mighty good looking dogs! Oh... I need more room so I can have a Kai AND a Hokkaido!
  • Yes, I ment angulation. I'm sure they can run circles around other breeds, and I don't mean that in any disrespectful sense at all by the way, the dogs are all very lovely. The last one seems to have a poorer bend of stifle, but he is still very handsome. The Shiba and the Kai standards (FCI) seem to both call for a straight leg and the wording is very similar, both calling for a longer upper thigh and a shorter lower thigh. Anyways, @Mirak, that's a cool project you have ahead of you.
  • Would Rikiro be a good example of angulation? I think MirkaM has a Classy dog and so maybe Marian would allow the use of this photo?

  • @lindsayt - Yep, Eishin is Ritsu, Ayu, and Tora's sire. He is also half-brother to Tone No Ishin who is Tyson's sire.

  • Thanks @lindsayt for the explanation!
  • Akashi is pretty good in the back, tho I think his muzzle is too short for a "perfect" Kai...

  • Brad, may I use Nio's photo? I really like his head and eyes. These dogs also looks very nice http://www.flickr.com/photos/30674599@N04/5109986826/in/photostream , http://www.flickr.com/photos/30674599@N04/5100818532/in/photostream. And once again, I'm not looking just one dog for this project :).
  • The shorter muzzle makes him more cute ;)
  • @MirkaM - Sure, you can use any of my pictures.

@lindsayt - Yea, that's why Shiba people love him so much. :o)

  • If it was up to the Shiba fancy, a Kai Ken would look something like this: http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4016/5155051187_e5e61bed25_o.jpg
  • @linsayt Touche about the angulation!!!

@ayk Rikiro was never owned by Marian so I'm sure she has no say in the pic being used.

I honestly think that Eishin is a perfect example of a nice Kai male. But then again, he has that look that I prefer. I also think that Kona still has one of the best confirmation of any Kai I've seen.
  • Thats a cute Kai, he should have some more urajiro and then he would be perfect ;)
  • @lindsayt - That's not a Kai, it's a Hokka. ;o)
  • It's a bad ass brindle Hokka, cool!
  • @brada1878 Can we get a Kona pic up in this mix?
  • That brindled Hokkaido reminds me of some Jindos. :-)

I think a while back there was a photo standard made by Marian, and Rikiro and some of the other dogs were in it?
  • oh my, that's a beautiful hokka!
  • I don't know if he's perfect or not, but Eishin is hands down my favorite Kai. And that hokka is awesome! I Seriously want one in the future.
  • Eishin is one possibility, I also like him very much. And I got this idea from Marian website's when I saw it there. But I'm not going to use Rikiro's photo.
  • Mirka, you can look through my Flickr account and use any pictures you'd like. http://www.flickr.com/photos/30674599@N04/

  • Thanks Shigeru :)! I have been browsing there many times :D.
  • @MirkaM have you checked out Juno lately? She's pretty darn perfect.
  • Juno is super nice.
  • Just saw her picture on facebook. She looks great.
  • I actually have to say the first time I saw Juno's puppy picture, I knew she was going to grow up to be an amazing looking woman. I pretty much fell in love with her at first site.

Yea, Juno is looking great! (like her mom)
  • Yup, Juno carries the best from both sides of her pedigree. She's a beautiful dog.
  • Okey, I have to do the material for judges training "program" :P. And I need LOTS of photos from good and bad types. This way I can also have an influence that judges accept KKA type in the shows. So if you want to be part of this project, please send me pics from your Kai to my email mirka.mertanen@gmail.com. Of course I need your permission to use the photos you send me. And if someone has photos from not so typical Kai (head, ears, earset, tail, colour, expression, proportions etc.) I'm more than thankful from those pics.
