Back from my visit with Finigan Akitas in Poland :D (pics)

Hi all,
I have now returned from my visit to Finigan Akitas. I had a great time and Blanka and Michal are SO nice! I felt really welcome and they taught me a lot of stuff about showing and bloodlines and akitas in general. You can always learn more, and I did! :D

Their dogs are amazing, we have a lot of Redwitch bloodlines here in Denmark, and even though they are very nice, I wanted something new to bring to Denmark. And Finigan are based on some old american lines and I really love their dogs' types! Very good temperaments, good bonestructure and generally very good put together, great gait and personalities to die for! :D

I came there both to learn some stuff and (mainly) to see their current litter. I want a girl, and they have 4 girls in this litter. My favorite has always been girl no. 4 and when I met the puppies for the first time, my feeling was only intensified! She is gorgeous and with a great personality. She is so friendly towards people and has really lovely face and expression. And she is very nicely put together. Now, she's till a puppy, so who knows how she will turn out in the end, but for now, she looks very promising! I also liked the other pups, but no. 4 is just something special! She crawled right into my heart from the first moment! :)

We still have to work on the details, but I am fairly certain that girl no. 4 will be mine, though on coownership with her breeder, which I am very happy about, as it will mean that I get to work closely with one of the really great breeders in Europe :D

Anyways, some pics are necessary I think ;)

  • What a beautiful pup! So glad you got to meet them and will be bringing one home soon! She reminds me a little of Oskar's dam, Jinx. She is here as a pup: http://www.corblyme.com/page13.htm

And here as an adult: http://www.hoka-hey.com/jinx.htm

Your girl's brindle is sharper at this age though!

    Anyway, she's gorgeous! Congrats!
  • Aww she's beautiful!

    Thanks :)
Yeah Jinx is somewhat similar, though my girl doesn't have as big facial markings ;) I just looove the brindles!

By the way, yesterday evening she was given a name - Eowyn! Full name is Finigan Bai-Cuf Eowyn :)

Eowyn! Great name for an Akita girl! (And while I thought Jinx was pretty, I secretly think Eowyn is even prettier! ;) )

    I love the black faces!
  • Yeah I love the name, so ofcourse my girl had to have it ;)

Can't wait to get her home! I'm just so excited :D
  • She is striking! Congratulations!!!! How old are they now? Is she ready to come home?
  • She's 10 weeks old now, but I can not get her home till january since she needs her rabies shots. It feels like I have to wait forever! Haha...
  • Wow, 10 weeks! And her ears are up already! Oskar's weren't at that age! It must feel like forever until you get her!
  • Yes she and her 3 sisters are very early with the ears. The one male in the litter still has floppy ears ;)

You're right, it feels like forever! I cannot wait, I'm so excited and just from the 3 days I were at the breeder I have grown to love her. She has the most amazing personality :) So sweet and great towards people. But a little cheeky at the same time ;) Haha...
  • You can't take her from the breeder until she's gotten her rabies shots? In the US, we tend to take dogs at 8-9 weeks old and the new owner takes care of all the shots.

That kind've stinks. I would hate waiting that long! :-)
  • Gorgeous pups :) Im a big fan of brindle as well
  • @Tara probably because the pup will be traveling out of the country :P
  • Oh good point Rina. Yes, that is a very good point. I probably should have thought of that. It's actually a *duh* moment for me.
  • Haha, yeah Tara, it's because she cannot cross the borders unless she is vaccinated ;) I could've gotten a permit if she was under 3 months old, but this breeder doesn't sell her pups until at least 12 weeks, so she passed the age where I could get a permit and so I have to wait. But she's definately worth the wait!!! :D Anyhow, she will be housebroken before I get her. Less work for me in that department ;)
