Male Long Coat JA Puppy Available 12/19/2010

edited December 2010 in General
UPDATE: The female is going to a new home, still trying to find a home for the male.

The LA-Branch Akita-Inu Hozankai have two Long Coat JA puppies up for sale. One male and one female.
Both are red and are 8 weeks old. They have their puppy shots and have been dewormed.

The parents are both imports from Japan, have their eyes and hips checked, and are both registered with the club.

Not really sure if I should be posting costs -my intent is to show that the club wants them to find a home
LA-Branch is asking $200 per dog + membership ($110) = $310. A Spay/Neuter contract will be required as well. Basically, the $200 is covering costs with the dog, the big goal is to find them a good home. If we get two new members out of the deal -then thats a plus too. The buyer covers all shipping costs.

Please PM me, or email me at smnollan@gmail.com for more information.

    Yes they do -

  • My god they're cute! The only thing saving me is dealing with my own pup's adolescence, and reminding myself I don't need a fourth dog!
  • They are adorable!
  • They are quite cute... :) And if I had room for a third, I would absolutely snatch one up! Hopefully they will find a fantastic home!
  • Oh... the... temptation!!! They are adorable!! We are looking at getting another Akita again, but I really want to get a rescue or one that needs to be re-homed! I hope they find a wonderful home before I change my mind! They are super cute! And a purebred JA too!
  • @shibamistress - "...reminding myself I don't need a fourth dog!" Need? Who cares about need? Get one! :-)
  • For show purposes, it's too bad that long coats are considered a DQ fault. Long coats IMO, make fantastic pet akitas. They seem to be more happy go lucky then that standard JA. In fact, I don't think I have ever heard of anyone owning a grouchy LC.
  • So cute! They do look like Ewoks. lol
  • they look huge, athena is a week older and looks so small compared to them. really gorgeous puppies though. good luck finding them new homes, i'm sure they won't wait long
  • Omg! So cute!
  • Oh lordy, this is so tempting...but I'm not quite ready to bring another pup on board just yet. Ooooh, they're so adorable! :/
  • Some one asked about the grey in their coats. As they get older (and very soon I might add), those coats will turn red. Size wise I've noticed that most LC tend to be a little big. Kita and Waka are on the bigger side and their puppies should reflect that.

  • So tempting, but alas, we won't be ready for another puppy until after we move. We can only have two dogs where we live now. I LOVE long-coats though and I've been thinking about a JA for our last addition, buuuut it's not good timing for us. They are super cute though, and I hope they find good homes.
  • Good call on the Eewoks! Those puppies are adorable :) Best wishes on finding a good home for them!
  • Hi - the Female is pending sale. The male is still available but has someone coming out to see him. I'll keep the board updated as to the status of our Ewok-Inus
  • Update - both dogs should be at or on their way to new homes by Monday. At this point, I'll hand this over and I expect lots and lots of photo spam.
  • I'm so excite to see them grow! Long haired Akitas are beautiful IMO. They look uber silky. :)
  • Ooooh! So someone from the forum is getting them? YAY!
  • So I had the honor of going out to visit Ben and the puppies with my boyfriend. There were 3 puppies still at his place. Both of the Long coats and one female short coat. They were extremely ADORABLE! I also brought along Mika to see how she would do with the male LC. At first we went out back and Ben took out the male and let me hold him. He was just a cuddle bug! He gave me lots of kisses too! He was just the sweetest thing! Afterwards Ben and his wife took the other two females out of the huge ex-pen area they made for the pups and let me put the male back in the pen with Mika. Mika did not like it at all. She kept trying to get out of the pen and felt very uncomfortable. After a few minutes Ben suggested we take Mika and the male LC inside the house to see how they would do. They did GREAT together. Mika was in her regular play mood and kept trying to get the male pup to chase her! He was too slow and couldn't catch her! Haha she was all over the house running around! The pup would turn around and she would take off and he wouldn't move cause she was too far away by the time he took one step!

Later we moved out to the living room and Ben has an ottoman/foot rest thing in the middle of the living room and started playing the game of chase! So what happened was Mika would run, and the puppy would chase her, but Mika would make a full round to him and he would then stop and turn around and try to chase her the other way! They had a blast together.

Unfortunately, since we just found out about the puppies being available, we weren't really ready to bring in another pup. We really wanted to bring him home since he also did so well with Mika. We weren't really thinking of adding another pup for another 6 months. So after the visit with Ben we talked things over and I called Ben and told him that we weren't going to take the male puppy. :T Which makes me sad still since I had so much fun with him. I will be joining the Club though to get more involved with the breed and learn more. Ben and his wife are really amazing and Ben can talk for hours! Which I don't mind at all, he has had so many experiences and loved to share! I also got to see some of his pictures that he took when he was in Japan last. I also saw a picture of him with Shigeru! I asked if it was Shigeru too since I recognized him from previous pics on the forums. :P

Here are some pictures from the visit. One of the forum members is getting the female LC, I won't give away who got the female LC. I'm sure when that person is ready they will reveal who they are ;)

  • Ohhhh my goodness... imagine cuddling up to THAT on a cold winter night.
Thanks for the extra pictures, Jujee!
  • I haven't seen them in a few weeks. They look great and not as bushy as I thought they would be. Both the LC and not LC have Waka's eyes.

Sorry it didn't work and welcome into the LA-Akiho.

  • Thanks for sharing JuJee! Really cute!
  • Oh, so cute! Makes me wish, again, that I could have one, but I do seem to have a VERY LARGE Akita pup here (at 6.5 months, Oskar is 90 lbs!).

But how cute, and that's so cool you got to meet Ben and see his dogs...I'd love to do that someday!

Can't wait to hear who has the female!
  • Hi all the male puppy is still looking for a home. I will not be updating this thread after this post. I don't want to turn this into a buy sell thread. If you know someone looking for a quality puppy please PM or email.
