I thought that Norwegian fox researchers developed it. Or that kind of information I found out from one of the most famous AI clinic's web sites here in Finland. 1988 was the first trans-cervical AI course (to dogs) arranged for Finnish vets. But they have been doing AI in cattle breeding since 1946.
Ife turned 3 years today. And then also started my story with the Kai breed. I never thought this kind of journey; trip to New York, many uphills and downhills, many acquaintances all over the world (thanks to this forum!) and before anything I have grew as a human. Ife has been the most challenging dog I have own so far and she has taught me many things. There has been times when I have been ready to gave up but now I wouldn't change anything. I have to thank Marian from Classy kennel for making this true.
Here is a photo where Ife and her sibling are 12 days old.
In fact I can... Our first couple years weren't the easiest, they included lots of tears, sweat and hard work and it felt that it never ends. It was long hard road to this day. But I'm sooooo glad that I didn't gave up. My mum has said that it feels so good that Ife nowadays trust so much to her. This girl took much but she has also given me so much. I feel that I have grew up as human a lot in these four years.
She looks so happy! Ife is definitely a great looking Kai, I love her tail too, good proportion to her body. You live in a great place for the outdoors, you all must have a lot of fun together I'm glad to hear she's not so shy anymore, since Ren sounds very similiar to her in attitude. She isn't a big fan of men or strangers either, but she's slowly getting better with them.
Ife had also problems with men but slowly after many positive experience she now is quite open with them. My stepfather had a huge role in this because he is trained masseur and he in practice won Ife's trust by massaging and relaxing Ife. Now Ife thinks that every man gives her a massage .
Ugh, Ife is having some weight problems after babies... When she started her heat she weight 13 kg and now she weights 16 kg (Nuuk weights 16,8 kg). I have diminished her portions and increased our exercise but it doesn't seem to work. My mums oldest schipperke was the same after her first litter and our vet thinks that it's just hormonal thing. Anyone else had this problem with NK female?
After tora's first litter she returned to her thin, trim self. After her second litter, she has retained some weight. I am still working to get some of it off of her.
