@CrimsonO2 - Well, our yard, over time, has become pretty "puppy safe" from us picking things up that a puppy was chewing on and shouldn't have been. In the house, they are usually in crates with 1 or 2 pups out - we rotate them like that. So we can watch them in the house (and so they get accustom to crate time).
There are things in the yard that hurt, things like cactus, fire ants, and tumbleweed, but we just let the pups learn about those things on their own. There is always a learning curve for new pups, it only takes a few cactus needles for them to get the point tho.
The real question should be - how do we socialize all these pups. That is something we are still working through. We've been taking 4 pups at a time each weekend to puppy class, but its been closed the past few weeks due to the holidays... so we take them to the plaza instead.
When you add carsickness to the mix it gets even harder. Kumi would get so ill on our 2 hours drive to puppy class that she would basically shut down. There is no way to make class a good experience for a dog that gets that sick from the car ride to class. So we had to drive Kumi to the Plaza, about 15 minutes from here, to meet all the tourists as a pup - she could make the 15 minute drive without being too sick.
anyway, point is, it's a task to get them all socialized too!

@tjbart17 - Kaiju is such an ass, but Cho Cho has put him in his place a few times now. So I think he "respects" her. lol .. He's started this new thing, when he sees Jen he freaks out and starts biting her legs and humping them. LOL I need to get in to video, it's very amusing.

You can tell that she's been around strangers. She is super friendly and willing to get up and get some pets and attention from strangers. I loved Kumi's personality and outgoing nature.
Just my $.02 but I think that's more important that puppy classes with Kais. Not to say that owners shouldn't do them, but I think Kais are pretty comfy with other dogs, it's humans where you might have the problems. Koda and I have spent countless hours at restaurants, cafes, shopping centers, fairs, art festivals, you name it. He can feel comfortable with 99.9% of humans outside the home because of it.
Dogs, well, that was easy. Just brought him to puppy classes and the park. He loves most dogs.

Kaiju is the cutest, but meeting him in person I know what a devil he is. He's lucky he's so cute.
Hey Brad, Our doctor prescribed Serenia to help "turn off" the vomit center in the brain for us on long car rides. Also, what we've been doing too is putting Kurenai in a crate and covering it during the car ride. Kind of a sensory deprivation if you will so that the ride itself isn't so overwhelming. I'm guessing she looks outside at the passing scenery and gets herself dizzy/sick.
@Crimson02 LoL, my sister used to always get car sick and what really helped was covering her eyes, usually with a hood or hat. Not seeing the motion really helps
Dunno what it is..... Kumi never got carsick while she was at my place, and neither did Kurenai, and I take the pups with me everywhere on really long trips.
Hey Shigeru, Maybe it's the speed difference? We go 75-80mph around here (120kph+) all the time? Then again, from what Brad says, maybe it isn't speed considering you landed him in a rice paddy.
I think, for Kumi, it may be the harness we use as a "seat belt" for her. I forgot it one time when I took her hiking and that was one of the few times she didn't get sick on the ride. Maybe the Ruffwear harness just stresses her out or something. :oT
The Shikoku and the Kishu are my favorites!!! Love the video Brad. Man, you have a ton of dogs!!! I'm impress how you're able to care for all of your dogs. LOL! Hey, I might ask you for a Shikoku in the future...haha. I think I'm just falling in love with all of the NK.
