I thought this was neat. GPS tracker plus some added bonuses. $250-270 and it includes lifetime registration. Anyone have this or know anyone who has it?

  • Hmm... Never heard of it, but it is an interesting idea and much smaller than normal GPS collars.
  • It seems good for an urban setting, but the main reason I'd want a tracking collar is if I were out in the wilderness with an off leash dog, and it doesn't seem like there's very good coverage for that.
  • wish we put one of these on Mochi :o(
  • Wow! That's really small. I've also been investigating different GPS devises to get for Panda sometime in the future. The smallest one I saw was quite a bit larger than that one.
  • Brad - :( Any news about her yet?

Heidi - They're off the T-mobile network so if you can get a cell phone signal, it should work. But yeah, more of an urban, just in case your dog gets out of the yard kind of thing.

I really like the mobile app option (even though they don't have one for Android yet) and the safe zone thing. You create a safe zone (ie yard) and once your dog gets out of that zone you get notified.
  • I'd like to see what little Miss Mei does when no one is home. There are rumors of her being up on the hills. But she's always home when someone gets there.
  • Well, Brad makes a good point about Mochi. When traveling with or transporting a dog it would be an excellent safety precaution. It would certainly be worthwhile, since it is small and affordable and would be better than nothing, especially since most of us live our lives primarily within cellphone reception zones. And, I guess as long as you have one it may as well be on the dog at all times. It's not like people schedule their dogs going missing.

I haven't looked into GPS collars in a while, but I'd really like one that worked anywhere. Although perhaps since those are going to be bigger and more expensive, it would be good to have both. Or just the affordable one, since no one can have it all, haha.
  • No word on Mochi.

I agree, it would be a good idea to own one of these for trips and such. Jen and I discussed purchasing a few of these and putting them on the collar of the dogs we ship then having the owners send it back to us when we know the dog is safe. The issue I think would be that the airlines probably wouldn't want one of these sent in the crate since they are essentially cellphones.

  • Screw the airlines! Do it anyway :)
