Backpacks with detachable harnesses?

Are there any out there other than the Palisades?

  • I know of one by Outward Hound but that brand isn't too good for serious stuff. Casual backpacking it might work but not actual packing.

  • Wow, those are two ends of the quality spectrum, for sure. That K9 stuff is amazing, but yeah, too expensive for me. So you know them? The outward hound one does look good for casual walks. Those are some low prices.
  • Signature K9 is a fellow forum member. ;o)
  • What?! How did I miss that? Who is it?
  • I dig the concept of the palisades pack- removable packs, same great harness- but the bags look ridiculously huge on it.
  • They look big, but unlike the approach pack they have compression straps to shrink them and bring the weight in closer to the body. If I wanted to pack with Tyson, that's probably the bag I'd buy for him. The Shibas are too small for it.
  • @brada1878 - I had no idea the guy(s) at Signature K9 are forum member(s). They are literally like 50 miles west of me in Roanoke. That is awesome.

Anyway, we have ordered a few things for work through them over the past couple of years. They have great service and the gear that they carry is pretty rugged.
  • Yea, they are members, but have not been on in a very long time an I don't even remember their screen name.

  • I have the palisades pack, and yeah in pics it might look huge and a bit like it is turning your dog into a table, but it is a great harness! Sometimes you can find used ones on ebay or craigslist. My friend got one for like $40 and it had never been used.
