nice! maybe in the future you will end up with one of Ghost's pups!
im not sure if he actually likes the boat ride. we were on the boat again over the weekend and hes a bit nervous when first getting in. i have to actually carry him in and out as he still doesnt want to jump in or out of the boat himself yet. hopefully he gets used to it one day.
I was looking through the pictures of Ghost and thought that Ghost reminded me a ton of ChoCho. So I looked him up on the Shikoku Pedigree and it turns out that they're half sibling (share sires)! That's neat
thanks ttdinh, ill let him know you said that! haha oh cool, both sired by Yamato then!
BTW do you guys think he is too skinny? i get that comment a lot from other people and i do think he could put on a few pounds. He is a very picky eater and doesnt seem to eat a lot. maybe hes just tired of orijen but hes even refused to eat raw food as well.
Here are a some pics of Ghost i took yesterday while out in the woods. He's sporting his new garmin alpha 100, best device ever. we are both enjoying the off leash freedom.
He's chasing after a deer in the first two pics. if you look carefully, you can see it in the background.
trusting him off-leash was my biggest wish as well, which is why im so happy with the training collar function on the garmin. he ran after the deer after he spotted it and was quickly out of view. the gps said he was 120 metres (about 130 yards) away and i called him back and reinforced it with the collar and he came right back.
OMG fantastic photos!! Thanks for sharing. I wish I knew how to take fancy photos too, I feel like such a cheapo posting up phone-camera pics! LOL "> Your Shikoku is beautiful, I JUST got Saigo but I'm totally wanting my next dog already, and it'll be a black and tan shikoku/shiba...??!
end of may really interested to getting off leash down right like you do and others haha
btw any recommendations on puppy food i plan on buying online since its cheaper but worse case scenario if ihad to buy locally what do you recommend/ pet stores??
i just go to tisol to buy my dog food. i used to feed raw but Ghost is a picky eater and sometimes he wont eat it and its a hassle to deal with left over raw. now i feed him orijen dog food as its apparently the closest thing you can get to a raw food but in a kibble form.
im really enjoying having the dog off leash now, i wasnt really able to until recently. the training collar i got worked like magic for Ghost and now i can pretty much take him anywhere off leash. the device lets me track him via gps and also train him as well.
Here we go with some more Ghost spam, i hope you guys arent tired of it all yet! His recall has been excellent with the Garmin Alpha, he chased a deer and ran over 300 meters away and i was able call him right back. i also forgot to keep an eye on him while we were packing/cleaning up our campsite and the garmin showed he wandered off almost 500 meters away. it worked like a charm and he came right back once i called for him. it was pretty neat to see his distance steadily get closer and closer on the hand held device. now im just hoping that he actually catches some sort of critter!
