World's oldest dog just died...an NK mix?

Just saw this--the world's oldest dog, who was 26, just died in Japan. Doesn't he look like an NK cross to you all? I thought maybe Shiba (difficult for me to get a sense of his size--could be JA, but damn, that would be a long lived Akita. Of course, it's long lived for ANY dog!)

The photo is captioned as having been taken in December 2010, so since he was born in March 1985, he would have been well over 25 years old there. If we could all look that good when we're that old -- if we ever get to be THAT old.

It's stated with some certainty that he's a "柴犬と雑種犬" Shiba mix... maybe something to be said for hybrid vigor?

Not a long coat JA. There is a film clip that shows the little guy walking next to a person. The dog is more of a Shiba height. Could be a long coat Shiba or Shiba mix.
Looks like he was a little sweetheart, whatever he was...

Looks like he is a Shiba mix, but I know that I had a similar thought about the JA when I first saw the pic....but we don't know what he was mixed with.

My first thought was JA too but I didn"t see the film clip. I think we are lucky if our dogs live to be half his age.

For what I see on the photo, he's too small to be an Akita. Might have had some Shiba in him, though.

Elsewhere it was confirmed that the dog was a Shiba mix.
