Kanagawa Nippo Regional

edited March 2012 in General
Well, I finished work early and thanks to a quick call to Shigeru figured I could make the last bit of the show. It was interesting and got to see a Shikoku and Kishu up close for the first time. Shikoku's were a bit smaller than I thought and Kishu's a bit larger than I thought. The show was about 90% Shiba's and the next biggest group were Kishus. No Hokkaido or Kai that I saw and I didn't see any Akitas either!
Since I wasn't planning to go I didn't bring my camera but have a few phone pics.

  • The reason there were a lot of Kishu at the Kanagawa regional is that the judge for the medium breeds was a Kishu judge. A lot of the Shikoku kennels I know didn't bother going.

It's great that you made it in time!
  • Cool! Wish I could have seen 'em. Especially the Kishu.

All the Akitas were at Saitama AKIHO show today from what I understand its a huge show. I was at Osaka show instead, it was small.
  • I was planning on going but I backed out on the last minute. The show in Hachioji didn't have any Akita or Hokkaido either but a pretty good amount of Shikoku and Kishu.

I really like the first picture. Really nice looking Shikoku! If you are planning on going to any more of the shows, It'd be nice to meet someone from the forum!

@thewalrus Do you think the Yamanashi Regional will have any Kai judges? I'm really interested in seeing more of them.
  • Nice pics, thanks for sharing.
  • Pretty much always 0-5 Kai at Nippo regionals. If you want to see Kai, the KKA national will be held on the 1st of April in Yamanashi. Should be between 150-200 entries.
  • Nice picture for a cellphone. :)
  • I will try to be at the Tokyo show in April and hope to see a few of you there. I met an interesting Shiba breeder today who will be debuting one of his pups there. He mostly breeds black and tan and sesame Shibas but used to breed Akitas as well.
  • Or go to an Akiho show in Japan and see lots of them.
  • I LOVE that sesame Shiba. So beautiful.
  • The first picture is of a sesame Shikou which I fell in love with and yes the Shiba was a very good looking dog as well. I am going to meet up with breeder I met and have a look a his sesame Shibas. I think he said he has 2 or 3.
  • @thewalrus That's a lot of Kai! I'm definitely going to try and make that. Thanks for the update!
