Decent camera that is water proof?

edited March 2012 in General
I love taking pictures with the Nikon camera, but it can be hard sometimes when it's snowing, or I want get pictures on the boat or in the lake..

I'm worried camera get ruined if I take it out during the snow.

Anyone know of a nice portable camera that's water proof, durable and stuff and takes decent outdoor pictures?

Olympus Tough TG-310 is what I have. It can film underwater, is drop-proof, and freeze-proof. Its got decent megapixels and high def video.

My main complaint with it is it has to "boot up" when you turn it on and it takes forever for some reason. I think I can assemble the lenses on my Canon DSLR faster than this thing turns on.

Despite being the lower model number, it actually has the best features/specs of the Tough series IMO.
  • Just came out.

Small, waterproof, and semi-pro, but it ain't cheap.

I use a Lumix TS1. I will prolly upgrade to the TS3 whenever my camera dies. I got sand in the camera but I opened it up and washed it with fresh water. After that, my camera was good to go again.

It works well when I want to bring a point and shoot along. It's also light enough to stay afloat when affixed with a keychain bobber, which saved me when I dropped it in the gulf of mexico.

If you must wash out an electronic device (because you spilled something in it) use rubbing alcohol not water. :)

Even a waterproof or underwater device is not meant to have water *inside* it, it just means that the device itself is sealed to prevent water from entering it (up to a certain amount of pressure caused by depth).
