Questions on foods and how much to feed
I switched from Pedrigree dry food to Buffalo Blue dry...was wondering if anyone knows this product and how good it is or not? I know it's all organic but I'm not sure if Orion likes it or not. He seems to be eating when he wants to instead of eating at his regular meal times...breakfeast...lunch and dinner. He was eating right away before...I switched this past week and around 2 weeks ago he's started going over to the food bowl when I put his food out...look at the food and walk away...he will eat but like I said...it's more like when he's in the mood to. I was checking out the polls on raw foods...I didn't think it was good to feed them raw food...so is it Ok to give him raw beef...chicken etc? Is there any places online to find good receipts to make for him? I really don't know just how much to to put out when I feed him either...he doesn't really pig out or anything like that...he seems to eat just when he's hungry. BTW he turned 4 months this past Monday...growing like a weed. I don't have a scale but figure he's about 10 to 12 pounds...maybe a little more...he goes to the vet this weekend for his rabbie shots...so I will know his exact weight then.
I also wanted to see what you all thought about letting Orion start sleeping in his room instead of the crate...Im still putting him in his crate when we go to bed, but I've been debating if I should let him sleep in his room or not...I know he would be more comfortable but I'm affraid he might get into trouble...like maybe just getting to wild at night...he does ok in it all day so he may do good at night too. He would be able to walk around if he wanted too and get a drink of water if needed...but then there's the releiving himself too...but it is easily cleaned up as there is a heavy tarp down...if you read the "Orions new room" thread you will know that he shreads his pad if I put any in the room...our trainer suggested a litter box because sometimes when he goes on a pad he misses a little...he will have his front paws on it and think he is on it good enough when he really isn't...I'm just affraid he will dig in it and knock all of the litter...any comments on that?
Thanks in advance for any adivce.

Some Shibas are picky eaters. Mine is not, so I don't have much advice on that. If you want him on a feeding schedule instead of free feeding, I would suggest that if he doesn't eat his food, you pick it up and then give it to him at his next feeding time.
Dogs can handle fresh raw meats. You can find a ton of information on google. Type in "Bones And Raw Food" (BARF Diet) and you will get a lot of information.
Whole Dog Journal also has review of frozen raw foods coming out next month, and has done stories in the past on prepearing your own dog food. I think they did a 6 part series last year, back issues are available for purchase.
