Dog Boots

edited September 2012 in General
im just wondering if dog boots are a good purchase to make for our dogs. i was thinking of getting Ghost a set of them for when we are out in the woods. last month i noticed that he got a couple of big gashes in his foot pads. i think he may have cut them on some barnacles when it was low tide. he seemed ok though and was running around with no problems but i think the excitement of being out in the wilderness overcame any pain he may have been feeling.

anyways if anyone has used them, please chime in, especially if you have a shikoku. sizing information would be great as well! i was looking at the ones on the ruffwear website. (their packable highlands bed looks nice as well!)

  • I bought muttluks. They stayed on really well.
  • I've only ever used very cheap ones... which did not stay on and caused really hilarious walking from my Lapphund. I would imagine that even non-cheap ones would cause some funny movements until the dog is used to them.

So sorry that wasn't helpful, but yeah--I don't recommend the cheap ones that are basically just little cloth sacks for feet with velcro around the top. They don't protect against much, and somehow she lost one in the backyard (when I was trying to get her accustomed to them) that I never did find.
