Feeding a Kai puppy

What and how much should you feed a Kai puppy?

Any recommendations for hard food? Link with price would be perfect. Thanks.

The same as for most dogs, though Kai can be itchy and need a lot of efa's to help keep their coats in good condition. You might check out this thread, which also has a link to a dog food advisor web page:

This link is on the Shiba forum, but it has a lot of information on dog food and nutrition:

You might want to take a look at some of the threads in the Shiba forum in general, since you seem (relatively) new to dogs, because a lot of basic questions about canine health/training/behavior/nutrition are covered there. It's aimed at Shibas, but would likely still be of use.

Hope some of this helps! I don't feed kibble, so I don't have any real recs, though I do prefer a grain free kibble when I do feed it. I feed a raw diet otherwise.
  • Thanks @shibamistress. I have owned dogs with my family, but this is my first dog by myself. Just want to make sure I leave no stone unturned :). Figured Kai owners have experience feeding there Kai puppies more than just reading the bag in the store.

I need to remember to search my questions. Forget all the valuable info already discussed on the board.
  • My pups have been eating mixed food (kibbles and raw). And both of my own Kais are eating the same way. Puppies kibbles are Royal Canin's Medium junior and both parents have eaten it to one year old. Now Ife and Nuuk are eating every month different kibbles and I usually by them from supermarket. I don't buy the cheapest or the most expensive kibbles and their coats are okey. But I add salmon oil and some vitamins to their food.
