Hiro is going to a show this weekend. He was awesome as usual for his bath and dry. He also stood for his nails and as usual screamed the least out of all the dogs.
Wow! so that's across all the Northern Group breeds! Not just best in his own breed...that's pretty great! So the weekend was essentially 4 dog shows/trials?
Yes, for UKC there are usually 4 shows in a weekend. The northern group contains all the spitz type dogs. He actually beat other dogs in the group all 4 shows. What's makes it special for Hiro was he did it while being shown by someone else. I was showing Kuma in groups. A junior handler showed Hiro for me.
Hiro is still looking for a home. He has done very well on his outings. He is a typical kai in that he is reserved with strangers at first, but warms up to them. 2 different junior handlers he had never met were able to show him at the show without any problems. It helps that they boy wants to please and is food motivated. He did great with every strange dog he met including other males.
I still so wish that I actually knew what was going on with my life (I'm graduating from undergrad in three weeks and don't know what I'm doing from there), because he sounds absolutely lovely and I miss working with dogs.
He is such a sweet boy, and I hate to re-home him. I know it is best for him though as with my setup it is very difficult to manage a dog that does not get along with other intact males. I had a UKC judge talk to me at the show we were at, she just loved him, but her husband said no. They have several intact male belgian shepherds, so it most likely would have been an issue for Hiro.
@Trzcina I understand the waiting until you know what is lined up next but I've met Hiro, he is super cute, beautiful, and captain of his own little ship (from my meet it's the way i think of his personality) if things settle down for you he would be amazing!
I wish I was able to take him so that Ren could hang out with a dog she knows, but it's one dog only until I move out (again). Keeping an ear out in case someone I meet is interested in a Kai.
Hiro is scheduled to be neutered the Monday after the Classic. If everything goes well, He will meet his potential new family on May 25. If the meeting goes well, he will be going to live in Wisconsin.

Not to mention that he's adorable.
I hope he finds a fantastic home!
