Aggressive Dog Breeds

If big dogs acted the same way little dogs do routinely (charging, growling, snapping) people would be terrified. Think about it. The next time you pass your neighbor's chihuahua, imagine it as a mastiff doing the exact same thing. It really puts the concept of "aggressive" in perspective.

  • I have a neighbor that has a 7 year old kid who is in love with my 90lb GSD, but is scared to death of the 10lb Mini Pinscher down the road. All it does is stand 10 feet away and bark. Follow or run away depending on where you go.
I've only ever been bitten when grooming small dogs too. Feisty.

    The bigger the better (:
  • I agree completely! I have a chi myself and I have always tried my best to make sure she is well trained and on her best behavior at all times. But I have noticed so many small dog owners who think it is ok to not train their dogs just because they are small. This is not cool! Small dogs shouldn't be exempt from training because of their size!
  • To be quite honest, those most aggressive breeds lists are just a load of rubbish. I see a big difference in the way small dog people treat their dogs compared to big dog people. Those who do actually treat their small dogs as dogs don't generally deal with an over reactive nipping machine. This is just another classic case of "don't blame the breed, blame the handler".
  • Nice article and I completely agree. My Shiba seems to have a distaste for dogs smaller than him as well, so it's easier to avoid 'em. ;p

I got drunk one time and told one of my boyfriend's friend everything you just stated. She has a tiny asshole chihuahua.

I havent talked to her since...boyfriend said I made things awkward. Lol
