Reddit: 'tis a Silly Place

edited May 2013 in General
I might have made a Japanese breed subreddit after becoming disgruntled with the internet (people were wrong on the internet - it was serious). I have no idea what I'm doing, but damnit, I'm going to blunder through this like a champ and no one can tell me otherwise! :(

...but if there are any redditors out there, I would love opinions.
I tend to namedrop the NKF a whole lot. You're welcome. I'm sorry.

  • The internet is so full of winners.
  • Braver than me. Reddit is too full of idiots for me to tolerate.

    I usually don't get to frustrated when I deal with people on the internet. It's kind of like 'oh, whatever' and I just click away. I did the other day and this is how I'm venting.

    My last straw was when someone in another community I'm in told me 'Akita Inu' wasn't a breed and when I tried to show her what I was talking about (still cordial at that point), she said 'those are big shiba mutts' because she was 'a groomer and had a lot of experience eith them'. It was at that point I decided the computer was dangerous and I needed to walk a few miles with my pups.

    I'm hoping to make a little safe corner and a collection of links/information for people to find the places they can educate themselves on all the sites I frequent. I'm basically directing people to breed clubs and here if they have questions about the breeds.
  • Akita are big shiba mutts that is so dumb. :\

    I hate reading comments from dog behavior articles I rather just read the article and that is it. Comments make me go off the wall.

    It's sometimes like talking to a wall since they just ignore and keep saying wrong things like you must eat before your dog or this odd comment.

    "only way for your dog to respect you is to hunt with it and since you will be the one who makes the final kill the dog will respect you and see you as alpha." lol
  • I went on the Shiba sub once and it was just... ugh. Most of the defaults or bigger subs are awful. I am a regular on r/dogtraining, though. There's a lot of dumb questions but the majority of people are very helpful.
  • I read through r/dogs and r/dogtraining but I'm mostly a picspam person so I'll scroll through r/dogpictures forever and ever.

    @Saya - lol for the alpha comment
    @Nekopan - I agree. :( I just feel like... it's soul-crushing sometimes, but it's a trainwreck I can't srop watching.
