Suggestions for a doggy den
Hi all! We've moved into a new house and on the first floor is an abnormally large closet in the hallway. It's about 5-6 feet on all four sides. Since we are going to be doing a lot of renovations I thought it might be nice to make that closet into a place where Miyuki could hang out and chill...a doggy den! My question is....
What would your dog's dream room be? I want to make it a place where she is comfortable and if it gets too loud when company over she can go in there to escape and be alone. I thought about taking the door off completely and replacing it with a baby gate. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Feel free to go crazy with your suggestions I'd love to hear them! Oh and the flooring will be very water resistant and pretty durable.

Also, you might want to look into a multi level flooring set up. This way, she can have a cool spot to lay (hardwood/linoleum/laminate) on the floor, and a softer bed higher up. (think bunkbed or college dorm loft style)

Making the bottom of the door see through, like with a metal screen or something, is a good idea if you don't need a real solid barrier. Of course, my situation is quite different, but sometimes the point is having a solid barrier they CAN"T see through if the dogs are upset by the view of strangers, or as in my case, we need to avoid fights by dogs who will get worked up just seeing each other. (My point: sometimes solid barriers are exactly what we want!)
I like the idea of the multiple layers, so a dog can be down on the floor, but also get up higher to lay down and view. Maybe a carpeted platform?
