Swinging of the back, is this normal?

edited June 2013 in General
Tajo is my first JA and I am a little bit concerned because he is swinging his back while walking at slow speed. Maybe I am just paranoic but if he has any hip problem early treatment is always better. Here is a video of him walking:

Is this normal?

  • Don't worry, that's the akita booty wiggle.
  • I don't have an Akita, but all of my dogs do the booty wiggle when they walk. Sassy little things!
  • It's look pretty normal to me. One of my Shibas has a much moe defined wiggle, and I'm going to get him xrayed soon to see what's going on in his hips/spine (he's 9.5, so it seems like he could be starting to have problems there).

But his wiggle is way more distinct that anything I see in yours.
  • All my 'kitas walk like that, and have tested Good or better on their hips. :) My boy does it the least, Bijo does it the most.
  • Thanx alot for the responses :) This is just me being paranoiac :)
  • Saigo has a skinnier waist so it's even more pronounced! lol
Sometimes he does this skippy thing when he's half running half walking that reminds me of a Lemur. I want to take a vid of that...it's so adorable!
