That's terrible he should be shut down and those dogs should go to good homes. I can't believe anyone would let that go they must have a really messed up legal system. Governments really piss me off when they let these kind of things go on.
And of course, this goes on all the time. In the US too, obviously, at puppy mills, and in case anyone is under any illusions that we don't allow this here, well, in the US, the USDA licenses the commercial breeders, and there have been plenty of places like this where they were rarely (if ever) cited for animal cruelty, but never enough to shut them down.
This is why we talk about mills so much on the Shiba side, and why we've also said don't import dogs unless you know what you're doing--unless you speak Japanese and/or have very contacts in Japan and see the facilities. Because unless you do, whether you are importing or having a dog shipped to you in the US, you may very well be supporting a place like this.
It's obvious that the production of dogs is seen by many governments as just another form of livestock, and only minimal laws protect the animals. While I would very much like to see, in the US, the USDA stop licensing mills, I don't think that is going to happen. The other way to stop these people is through loss of demand, so my take on it has been to educate people not to buy dogs from mills. First they have to know what they are. So every video like this, I hope, helps a little.
I'm going to repost the video on the Shiba side too.
my boyfriends brother went to japan and he said he saw so many JA puppies and shiba puppies in pet stores. When he told me I was just like wow so guess there are mills all over the world then especially after I saw this clip
I think people here in Canada and the US should consider adopting an Earthquake orphaned dog. I'm going to speak with my hubby tonight and see if that might be something we can do.
Sorry to change the topic, just that this was on the same webpage.
