Meetup for DC Cherry Blossom festival?!

edited December 2013 in General
I know that this is WAY EARLY, but are any of you interested in meeting for the annual Cherry Blossom festival in Washington D.C. since it is also a celebration of the Japanese culture as well? I also know that the DCSIR, the main Shiba resue in the northern VA/DC area also has a meetup for this event. I would really love to go and meet fellow Shiba lovers and was hoping to find out if other NK members would be interested as well.

Thanks!

  • That's a really neat idea! :)
  • Interesting, do you have the date, time, or other info?
  • I think that's a great idea! It'd have to be pretty well organized though, its a very busy time in dc. A bunch of people, lots of people without manners, lots of other dogs, tons of different noises, and lots of walking.

It would be fun to go.

    Edit:
I went to their Facebook page to last year's event, it looks as though they met on the Sunday following the main Cherry Blossom event. I believe that they might do it again, but I'm not sure. Last time, they met at the Jefferson Memorial but traffic was awful, of course. I follow them on Facebook, if they have another Shiba Inu Cherry Blossom walk, then I will post details and the event page link as soon as I find out about it. The event is always public and all Shiba owners are welcome to join and celebrate Japan's national treasure.

Here is the link from this past event:

  • Sounds like a good idea if after the main event. But Sachi while doing better, this would be overload. I will have to sit this year out unless I come dogless.
  • That is such a great idea. To bad I'm in Wyoming. :(

I love that picture! A few of the dogs remind me of Mya!
  • I'd like to go if it all works out and Kiyoshi is doing well, it'll depend. I'd probably only be able to get off on a Thurs-Sat though, Sundays are pretty much set in stone for me.
  • I will happily come, but I will be sans pups though. (We always ride into the city on our bikes for the Cherry Blossom Festival, and Nola would be completely overwhelmed with crowds that big.)
